Does that vent the fumes properly?I didn't think it worked if the flu came down thought it had to go upwards

They do need to go upwards, as it won't get the fumes away properly, in fact you will get a buildup of them in the van. If you bypass the tip sensor you can probably get away with it. I think in the winter your van would condensate quite badly like this.
How is that going so far PureClean?

Seems ok so far, tested it for 20mins. got a carbon monoxide alarm too, just in case.
fumes dont mind which way they go, as long as they are exited at some point.
