Title: Question for truckmount users
Post by: The Carpet Cleaning Pro on November 16, 2011, 08:44:34 pm
I operate a truckmount and on some jobs cannot decide how much vacuum to run. I usually run about 10hg, but was wondering what other users usually set there vacuum lift to.

Monty,
You don't adjust your vacuum for every job. It is preset to 14hg. If you block off your vac ports and run the machine at full power the vacuum needle should go up to 14, just short of the red lines. Why do you only run it at 10?

Maybe his machine allows adjusting of the Hg?

Mine pulls 14 at full revs but I mostly use it at a lower rev setting usually pulling 13

Most if not all Truckmounts are designed to operate at 12 Hg.

If I infact do block the vac port with my hand the needle goes easily to 15 + and this is not even at full revs. I find that when using low-middle revs and by placing wand on carpet the needle goes to about 8-10 and I find anything above this seems to be to much and am in fear of lifting carpet from grippers or causing carpet damage. I mostly run at 8-10hg and find this is more than enough lift to clean a domestic carpet. I operate 300psi most of the time, and 8-10hg with average temp. 180. Surly this is enough?

I use the new teflon ultra sonic glide with a thermionic emission valve to control thevac relief.

I dont actually use a glide, however can somebody please explain honestly why these glides make such a difference as I simply dont understand how a piece of plastic can make a difference.

Monty - Fry an egg in a pan, then do the same in a teflon coated non-stick pan. Thats basically the difference.

Someone will be along shortly to disect the differences with airflow et al, but on the wand, the example above puts it into perspective.

Monty,
We use a titanium alloy pile extractor.

So basically, it makes the wand glide easier on the carpet but does not change the performance ??

Monty, some will argue that there's a slight loss of performance, but for me the pros FAR outweigh the cons. Plus you can use it on hard floors (to a certain extent) with a glide.

If you're doing it full time, it makes sense to do anything that makes it easier/less strenuous on your body - in my opinion at least.

Is anyone else having trouble using the forum tonight?
