Title: PIC | Rust from new gates
Post by: Blast Away on November 16, 2011, 06:00:08 pm
Mate of mine was altering some gates that he fitted on a PIC drive. He was grinding and left a trail of what now looks like rust. It was getting dark when I seen it so haven't got an image to show you.

Put a fan lance on and removed some excess.

Anyone experienced this and what's the solution?

Basically molten steel  has melted into the surface of the sealer. If acrylic then xylene will wipe it off - if its polyurethene then its a stripper job or wet blast. Just reseal as normal afterwards

Will be acrylic, I know who laid the drive. Didn't think about xylene. Will do that.

Cheers.
