Hello again,
Our ethic think we started to company has been to build a customer base on repeatr custom and reccomendation, but what methods od advertising do you guys find best as we have found it all to be a bit limp, considering the amount we spent with Yellow Pages, we have only had 3 calls from it.

Cheers

How big is your advert and how long has it been in?

Open your yellow pages.  Does you add or message stand out from the crowd?

If its a bus card size ad then its not as most ads are this size.  Fact of the matter is a bigger ad will 9 times out of 10 bring more enquires.

Increase you ad size each year as you become more proficient with marketing and dealing with enquiries.

Do you use voicemail? Many Yellow Pages enquirers won't bother to leave a message - they just try the next firm.

Have you considered placing smaller Yellow Pages ads in different classification sections? e.g. One ad in carpet and upholstery cleaning, one in cleaning and maintenance for commercial jobs etc.

Yellow Pages is good for building up your client base, but don't expect much front end profit from it.

Leaflets are great because:

* You can target the specific areas you want to work in
* You control how many you deliver (and how many calls you get)
* You've got all the space you need to get your message across
* You compete for the work less often (Yellow Pages enquirers usually call more than one firm, leaflets enquirers often just call you).
* Get it right and you can make more front end profit
* If your leaflet doesn't work you can easily change it - get your Yellow Pages ad wrong and you're stuck with it

Be careful about committing to a big ad in the Yellow Pages - it's very expensive if you get it wrong.

Cheers
