good morning guys just wondering the best way to get a platform for a day hire un fortunatley non of my guys have a ticket and i dont have insurance ,what is the best way of getting round this is it get ticket myself insure my self mind this is just for a one day hire ...our can you hire a platform and operator for the day with there own insurance ....i dont have much time to research as i need quote in for tom ..so im wondering if one off you jedi nights like jprice our some one could shine a light on the old shiningbright cheers guys

saying wee dont have insurance is wrong we are insured just not for access platforms so it would be a add on service will it be a huge amount our a paper excercise that costs admin ? were inured to 10million employers and public anyhow

I know a good firm but its in Liverpool. I'm not sure if it would be worthwhile with you being up north but the company is called hylift and they have 22, 34 and 38 metre access platforms. I know they charge less for a machine and driver than most firms charge just for a machine.I presume that if you hire a machine the company that owns the machine supplies the insurance but I would speak to your insurance first just to make sure your covered if nobody else on here knows for sure.

you do need your own insurance mate, most hire companies wont ask if your trained or insured but it is down to you to get insurance and training,

Most these company that hire these cherry pickers/ hydraulic platforms they will need proof of licence for one of these machines and insurance to cover there property but there is very limited companies that give you the insurance under there own policies. :) :)

Public and Employers Liability Insurance will be down to you if you or one of your employees operate. Equipment also down to you but check with current insurer as this may already be covered. If not you can either insure by the day or take out insurance with the provider.
Not worth doing if you're not IPAF, just too risky all ways you look at it.
Lots of places hire out kit with operator but be sure you are clear what you're getting for your money. In this instance they should provide all insurances but it's still going to be your responsibility to make sure all is in order, as well as gain authorisation for subbing this part of the work.
Not enough info to help more, height, timescales, site layout / access etc.
Best call a local branch of these guys and seek their advice. They'll come walk the job with you and help you decide what's required and thus wghat cost is involved.

Hi,
As a contractor nationally we use Nationwide platforms or HSS Hire, these guys are based Nationwide Truck mounted access comes with operatives who are ipaf trained.
For self drives you would have to request an operatives so they are covered by there own insurance.
You will be able to google these companies prices vary from £250 per day upto £1300 pending usage and height the £1300 was for a 50m bronto with operative for a Saturday so this might help with scaling and costs.
Phone them and they will help.
NOTE you will be responsible for risk and method statements for usage of the plant, not the hire company
