I've just had an email from Huw to say that my mini site is up and running and that they're beginning an advertising campaign at the end of the week for all mini sites on the main website,.
Its worth a go I'd say,
Dean.

Nah mate,
I wouldn't worry,
There are loads of areas for them to set up,
I'd leave it a couple of days and you'll find that it will be sorted.

ok kev normally I disagree with you, but yes why, before I hand over hard earned cash I would need to know, exactly what advertising will be done and what is different, is it press, radio, tv or what
-
Think its a question of waiting and see really - who knows ey? Could be a success - bit of a suck and see type of thing. But of course the website will need to hit top notch which means national advertising via television and radio. Hope it all works out, would be great for people to get work. Have some wee reservations myself, I know what I would search for locally it would be my area X - who knows... I havent been on the site but I would like to know the budget being spent on ads and national campaigns - sure the guys who have set this up will have that in place - and will have a schedule for advertising.

Thanks Stuart ;D
I just feel that one of the backers was on this post and ducked the question,im not knocking and am seriously considering signing up!
But i feel anyone could come up with a website simillar to this and charge about £50 a month for commercial and residential and times that by the areas!makes a lot of cash
If its not ran properly and that money is reinvested into marketing etc could be a very wasted £600 a year, especially as people call yell and to me its the same concept!

Site looks good Charlie, although you do not have a privacy policy in place or i'm going blind, I would recommend you get one on there asap on each page due to what you are doing ;)

I think that the more people that sign up for the trial period, the more money will become available for initially pushing on with advertising and promoting the site.
Anyone can see that it's a well built site and the price of building, developing and maintaining it would out weigh the initial subscription period income,
It's a gamble for everybody involved, both organisers and participants, more so the organisers.
Surely it's worth a gamble from our end??
As has been said on the other thread, many have spent more on a round of drinks
Dean.

Given the interest already shown (and the monies paid) I think it's much less of a risk for the organisers, as they are doing it with other people's cash.

Vin,
I disagree,
I think you will find that they've put a lot more time and effort into it than average Joe, and spent a lot more than £25 to get it up and running.

Dean you are a little bias on this mate so you would say that, it is all down to the traffic this new site can get simple as anything is worth a try, I love the idea, so much so I have a few domains I would like to talk to the site owners about that I can bet money they will drive traffic.
Huw, I see your on whois if you get time give me a bell ;)

The reason that I am saying what I say is because I know the effort that these guys have put into it and I think that it is a good punt for guys who are after building up their businesses,
I'm going have to get off line and have a sneaky ciu peak on the old blackberry now as the mrs has clocked the amount attention that I have being paying to the kids just before they go off to bed. :-/
Seriously though its has got to be worth a go hasn't it??

And they have signed up a bundle of people at £25 registration and either £25 or £50 a month, so I'm obviously aware (as are you) that I'm not talking about a £25 budget, am I? That's an utterly pointless argument to try out if you give it one second's thought. There's a guy on the other thread claiming 14 areas res + comm, so that looks from here like a bit more than £25. If you're going to argue based on facts, at least make them make some sense.
And, like them, I'd put in a lot of effort if I stood to get £950k in for a stated budget for advertising of £100k.
By the way, I'm not saying it won't work, just that the risk has now been passed on to the people buying areas rather than the people running the site.

mmmmmmmmm I find my self in a strange place as I find some of what you post rollocks as well as kev's but I agree ;D with both of you ,
it is ok saying take a punt at 25 squid but the total bill will be much more, I work it out at £625 plus vat for the year for a very small area, I must have been in 10 times that area by 10am this morning

What he ^^^ said.

Its £25 deposit. Is that the only fee? I cant see any pricelist.
-
I'm under the impression it's £25 for the initial trial-I've paid for a residential area but as yet have only had an email confirming application and nowt else!
I'll wait and see :)
