Title: Need help pricing up first commercial job!
Post by: CleartechLee on November 15, 2011, 04:29:05 pm
Hey all,

Need a bit of help to price up my first commercial job... its massive to say the least for me, the windows are stinking think they were cleaned a year ago the last time and they want the insides done also.. here’s some pictures to help

There are approx. 97 windows up top (these will be done from a cherry picker that is owned by the company (no ladder policy))

roughly the same number on the ground floor.. Excluding the blue area on the photos which has around 54 windows.

Inside the factory is another 70-80 windows approx. .075m x 1.5m both sides to be done

a few small office glass partitions and about 10 glass partitions with fire doors

I need to supply a one off price for inside and out

A monthly outside only price and a quarterly price for outside

All comments are greatly appreciated cheers

Why are the top windows being done with a cherry picker????

It'll be a lot cheaper and quicker with wfp.

I've never hired a cherry picker before but I bet you could build a basic WFP outfit for the cost of hiring one!!

sorry should of said, i dont own any WFP equipment and they wont allow ladders but the company themselves have a cherry picker on site which i can use and i have the ipaf license to use it.

sorry but i think you are the wrong person for the job, no offence but you could pole that in 2 hours and their cost would be much reduced if they didnt use you and a cherry picker even if it is their own.
sorry if that sounds harsh but my opinion

do u work alone?   id do that with a lad helper trad, but NOT  on my own.  the lad could scrub with a pole and id follow along with the squeegee on a pole for the upper windows

whoa whoa whoa, you might have a point about wrong guy for the job cos of no wfp but regardless he can still price it,

as for the 2 hours one man, to pole all first clean very dirty no chance NO chance in hell!

its hard to price for me as i dont do alot of large commercials my self ,
lets wait for some of the commercial boys to price it.

from what I can see and read I would work on 2 days and hope to get it done in 1 long day (bonus if you can)

1st clean will take 2 days I rekon though if they're minging

only u know what your day rate is

not a big a job as it first looks IF wfp

thing trad will take a lot longer

On the first clean they will be a nightmare. By myself I would be looking at 2 days. I would try to get someone to help who has a WFP.
Top by WFP, bottom trad 2 men 1 day, as to the price what ever you charge per day rate

Theres alot of caked on bird mess which from what they told me was atleast a year since the last clean so its goner be a scraper job for some of it and even with hot water WFP it will take some shifting, infact i would guess it would take longer doing it WFP on the first clean seeing the state of the windows compared to trad with a cherry picker but i dont know as i've only ever used WFP on the training course.

heres a birds eye view to show the size of the front

lee r u the only one that has been asked to put a qoute in .
to do it on ur on could b day n half work so price wat u would earn n a bit more for a small bonus .
u said u may ask friends for help .if so it could b done in a couple of hours
but dont forget u have to pay these guys ,
as to my first question if they have asked for other quotes they may go for cheapest  n safest.
olso make sure u have insurance for you n the other guys .just in case of accidents .go for it
