I have had an escort for the last 4 yrs, it has done the job no worries, and there are loads of cheap spares in the scrappy.

I have got my eye on another one, it is a mint condition75 td with 60k on the clock, if I get my finger out I can get it by the end of the month.

looks clean, you might need a custom tank to make the most of the space but otherwise get it sign written it should look tidy.

looks in good nick but the payloads on escorts are only 450-500kg are nt they?

i wouldnt put anything more than a 250L tank in the back of that.

ok if you wfp tops only or can nip home for a refill at dinnertime.

how much did it cost you and what year is a 52 plate?

best wishes

I ran an Escort Van for 6 years, only got rid when changed to WFP.
was an ex post office, great van, cheap as chips reliable, cheap parts and service.
Just make sure you change cam belt, every 30,000 or so, its a MUST!
other than that brilliant little van.

This one looks a bit too good to be true, age and condition ect. Personally I'd have the AA or some other organisation look it over mate just to be on safe side.

Good luck

The last Escorts were on an X plate (2000), but the vans went on for longer as I dont think there was a Focusvan available.

52 plate goes from Sept 2002 - end feb 2003.

The final Ford Capris were all built in late '86 (D) yet we see them registered up until '89 (G) so your van checks out fine.
Had two Escort vans, both great, very reliable and very easy to maintain.
Mate has just sold his Escort Van, either a 51 or a 52, with a 500l custom setup and been very good for the last 3 years although his non-turbo version was a little slow when loaded.
Some of the quoted payload figures don't include the driver, some do, check which is which.
TD version has a lower payload rating than the Naturally Aspirated due to the weight of the turbo and other bit's an pieces.
TD good for 75bhp in low blow but fit an intercooler and up the fuel and you can tweak to 90bhp without any hassles or 100 if you're careful.
Tend to go rather well then  8)

Thanks for the feed back everyone. I have checked the van out & it all comes up clean. I also got with it FSH & ALL MOTS. its two owners from new the first being Southern Electric Board ( S.E.B ) & the second is a man who worked for S.E.B, he used it like a car.
Pay load on it is 750kg. i only carry 200kg in water plus my trolly plus me at 120kg  :-[ LOL.
so even with fuel i will be no more than 400kg at anyone time. It is the 1.8 turbo d so it has got some puch to it.  ;D
