Title: Groupon
Post by: supernova77 on November 11, 2011, 05:23:51 pm
Hi All,

Here is a story that proves to me that Groupon just isn't worth it as a way of expainding your window cleaning business...

I had a customer who stopped me window cleaning their house whilst they had a large extension built (which is understandable)... Today I was driving past the house and noticed the building work had been completed, so I decided to knock to see if they wanted me to start window cleaning again.

The house is a large detached 4 bedroom house, with a new big extension.

Me: "Hi, do you remember I used to clean your windows before the building work started - Would you like me to start cleaning them again now its complete?"

Customer: "Yes please, I'm glad you knocked as I had lost your number"

Me: "Great, when shall I come and do them?"

Customer: "Well, not just yet, someone else is coming next week to clean them - I found them on Groupon, I thought it would be a cheap way of getting them cleaned as they are filthy because of the building work, but I would like you to come back and start cleaning them regularly after that".

Me: "Ok, no problem... How much are you paying through Groupon to get them cleaned?"

Customer: "£20"

Me: "Ok, see you in a few weeks!"

So... The guy who has offered his services through Groupon is going to clean a 4 bedroom detached house, which is basically a builders clean, and only earn about £10 from it!

Where is the business sense in that?

He might well do... We'll have to see... Still think its a waste of time, loads of work involved for £10 - I would much rather go and knock doors to expand my customer base.

Hi Helen - I'm not sure... I take it she's registered with Groupon and just saw the offer?

the guy can walk away from that builders clean, and the custys money will automaticly be refunded, your not obligated to do this kind of work, i am sure the guy did not have builders clean in his ad, and just for the record,  groupon does work, i should know,  78 new custys, 19 already on books that came to my website through groupon, who just wanted a w/c and never bothered to buy the groupon deal, only 4 so far booked in with their groupon, so no big mad rush, just fit them in around your schedule,

this was the deal, they have 70 on their, but i actualy got 88 deals?? will querie that with them,
i know it is very little money, i knew that before i went on board, but i gained 19 monthly custys from it already, so has paid for me, the rest is a bonus, just think what it would cost you and time canvassing, most of the work already booked in are small houses, i check them all out on street map,
