Post by: davep on November 09, 2011, 02:29:35 pm

Yesterday was the "day" for me.

In court in Basingstoke (taking ex LandLord to court for my deposit) good part we won in 20 mins

set off for home in the Nissan Largo we bought the day before. Big blow out on the M3.
Pulled over looked in back and found the space where the jack should be, looked where the spare wheel should be ..........................nowt.

limped off the M3 just on the wheel tyre was all over the motorway at this stage.....

Got to formula 1 tyre place.... no guv don't do wheels.

they phoned everywhere around Basingstoke for a wheel and could not get one.

Got the train back to middle of nowhere near Salisbury.

Got off train no phones ...... no signal on ours .................... no lights.............

2 1/2 miles to home in pitch black...........

luckily got a lift

what should have been 2 1/2 hours in a day was 9 hours altogether....

got home got on ebay to the muppet I bought the Largo off, to be told..............

spare is in the bonnet mate...........

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I used to drive a Royal Navy bomb disposal Landrover from time to time and we got a puncture once. We spent ages looking for the spare wheel and as the boss was on the phone to give the guys at Faslane's MT section a bollocking, my oppo suddenly realised it was actually ON the bonnet....

And you tax payers trust the armed forces.....? ;D

You donut. How can you not have noticed that wacking big round thing right in your eye view as you drive.
Mind you perhaps that's why people join the navy with all that open sea so not to bump into anything......oh come to think about it that does happen anyway ;D

Our skipper was having a meal on the Royal Yacht after the Hong Kong Hand Over and I was at the wheel on HMS Plover. My officer of the watch was so interested on trying to see if he could see Prince Charles, that he wasn't giving any orders and keeping an eye on things. So I remained on a steady course until I thought we'd should ideally turning hard to port.. Instead I asked "Sir, would you like us to power up to ramming speed?" with that he put his binoculars down and realised we were too close for comfort... "Hard to port, hard to port!"

I wish we'd rammed the Yacht, cos he'd have been well in the .... and he was a proper........ ;D

To avoid my day's news, I suggest all of you, at least all over 40 get along to your G P and ask to get your PSA checked and continue to get it checked every year thereafter.

Good luck.

Robert ???

Are you trying to say the dreaded jellied glove has brought some unexpected news? :-\

Unfortunately ...........Yes and I'm just suggesting everyone should be aware that a simple blood test should be routine from around the mid 40's.

We all tend to think we're invincible as long as we seem to function normally on a day to day basis and take things for granted.

I've got to 67 and still function pretty much as I did at 47, but a simple blood test and the follow up has shown otherwise.

I now have choices to make  :o :o

Robert

The blood test shows it up earlier so it's much more likely to be treatable. So it's bad news but probably good luck.

Didn't really want to post it on here but it made me a bit grumpy for a couple of months and  I feel every one should know about the blood checks which are advisable.

In my case........I'm in limbo as my youngest who's only 18 and was born with a serious heart problem has been told she must have a heart valve replaced SOON and I really want that out of the way as a priority.

Jaclyn is a stunner and throughout school was an outstanding athlete, excellent martial artist and a very formidable footballer, but we always knew she could have problems ahead.

They've arrived  >:( >:(

Puts it all into perspective.  Robert I hope everything sorts itself out for you and your family.
