Remember the post i did about vac motors on the Airflex turbo being protected from water ingress, and someones posted about them being idiot proof ?

Well today i was in a rush, i had the motors going and forgot to switch them off when i emptied the waste tank, sucked a load of water through the vacs which slowed them down a bit  :o ran them for twenty minutes to dry them, suppose thats cut the life span of them down a bit

Think i need some idiot proof motors

i agree it's in a terrible spot. i put a measuring jug over them to ensure nothing goes in when cleaning it out but it's easy to forget or not bother and it's always a risk

Forgot to switch them off when emptying?

I had a Turbo and now a storm, you will find a rubber glove fits nicely over the manifold when you're cleaning out the tank. Works a treat. James have a chat with Matt about an upgrade, the remote and pump out are a real asset and i'm impressed with the vacs.

I had the lid on when i opened the gatevalve thats why water got sucked through, when i finish a job i always leave the vacs on with the lid OFF for about 20 minutes to dry them out while doing this i usually empty the waste tanks and load the van, this time i just forgot in the rush that the lid was still on soon as you open the gatevalve it pulls the waste water through.

just picked a time saving tip up from this, didnt know you could empty the waste tank with the lid off and have the vacuums running to dry them out at the same time. Will give that a go tomorrow. Cheers guys.

Empty the waste tank first then put the vacs on.
2 or 3 minutes is sufficient to dry the vacs surely.
I empty waste tank, short hose to waste tank to
empty solution tank using this to clean out the
waste tank, vac hose to solution tank to completely
empty it and drain this.
Then vacs on whilst loading up, coiling hoses etc.

2- 3 minutes ? i was advised at least 10 minutes i just leave it running while i put everything away then its the least thing i do, i also leave the lid off while its not being used. This way i know they will be dry, mind you rather irrelevant if you allow water to be sucked through in the first place, that was a silly thing to do  :'(
