Hi guys just wondered if any one has joined pay a trader and has first hand experience with them. It does sound interesting I have lost a couple of jobs in the past through not taking card payments, so this might be the answer.
-
Took 2 payments using iPhone today, one on laptop taking details over phone. Easy enough. Added the 3% charge to the bill so doesn't cost me any extra as no monthly charge.
-
been using it a week on the ipad only one problem when I put in the wrong expiry date and it froze the system so had to take a cheque.
it can be a little slow if the signal strength is low
-
Mike, how are you using your iPad on the move?
I have one, as I understand it they are only wi fi, dongles cannot be used.
Do you use bt open zone? What's the cost?
-
the new ones are 3g so have thier own sim card, you can use them like you would a mobile phone
-
I use my Iphone... works fine... ipad would be useful though as it is bigger

Just been on pay a trader website says you pass on a payment request, you leave to the customer to pay on their site?
Wouldn't it be better if they did a app?
Like this, http://www.adelante.co.uk/iPhone.html
But anyway, is it quick and easy?
It says the customer has to register !?
-
Just get them to pay you. Simples.
-
I like it best because it is simples just like me...
Just tell customer to go to your website where you have a payatrader link - this link pulls up a payment page with your id number already filled in - all they have to do is enter their details plus your job/inv no. and bobs your whatsit - I get a text telling me the payment has been made - why complicate it any further?
-
It looks pretty simple actually my only concern is leaving it to customer, as it will be same as when I leave it to them to pay BACS or post cheque they seem to leave it for a week or so. I like better the idea of an app where I take card details, only you need to open a merchant account then and the added costs with that.
-
You don't need an app, go to virtual terminal on iPhone.
-
Actually what I posted a link too looks pretty cheap, i won't go over the 40 free transactions so will be £ 10 a month plus 2.4% truncation fee.
I think that's cheap in it?
Here's their fees Copy and pasted

In order to take advantage of the benefits of MobilePOS you will need to have a Merchant Account from an acquiring bank. If you do not have a merchant account Adelante can assist you in setting this up. In either case you may well be able to save money by ‘piggy backing’ onto Adelante’s unique relationship with the acquiring banks.
There are two separate costs associated with accepting credit cards. They are:-
Merchant Account - This is the specialised account provided by banks to allow you to accept cards. Banks charge based on the type of card and the volume of transactions you process. You should expect to pay something like the following:-
Account Set-up
£100
Credit Card Transactions
2.4%
Business or Corporate Card Transactions
2.7%
Debit Card Transactions
30p each
Most Banks would charge a minimum service fee per month of around £15 to £20 if your total transaction charges do not add up to more than the minimum service fee.
MobilePOS - costs just £50 to get up and running. After that there is a monthly charge of £10 per month (per merchant account and not per users). This includes 40 free transactions. Any transactions over 40 in a single month are charged at 25p each. These charges are in addition to the banks transaction charges.
To find out more please complete the request for information form and someone will contact you to discuss your requirements in more detail.
MobilePOS is inexpensive because it is a software application. There is no requirement to purchase and maintain costly dedicated hardware making it the most cost effective mobile credit card payment system available on the market today.

So I can also just punch in their card details? They don't nessicaily need to go online ?
-
Craig, I have a Samsung Galaxy s phone. Just down load the mobi app then you go online through the app and put the card details in and take payment, it takes seconds, there is even a slot where you put the customers email address in if you want so they get an email of the transaction.
-
Ok that sounds good, as it happens I might be getting the Samsung Galaxy S a mate always raving how good phones they are! :)
I think il give it a go, defo going to pass on the 3% cost!
-
You can down load the app to any phone ( smart phone)
Get the galaxy s11, best phone ive had. :)
-
It says you can make payment by there call centre does any one know how much that costs to ring the call centre from a landline and mobile.
-

The transaction costs are greater if you call.
