is this mainly leafleting or knocking pal?
i've been getting a few in lately but find that my leaflets are getting me very few lately!
-
I do leaflets and cards - on them I include a quote (if I can see the whole property - I.e I'm working on the neighbours etc.. )
Now it's getting dark and wet I wouldn't want someone knocking on my door in the evening tbh so I've reduced my cold calling

Mark any chance of seeing quote cards please, also have you had anyone being funny regarding pricing there house up without them asking?

cheers

Never had a funny word mate - had plenty of calls tho - think it takes the awkwardness away for the customer.
They have the choice.. They know the price you will charge without asking, so they make the choice!
I have a simple business card from Vistaprint mate - on the back it says " I can clean your windows for £........ "
Simples :)

good call m8,do you put it through the door with a leaflet?
i see what your saying, they know what they are paying instead of thinking shall i get a quote!
-
Yeah just pop thru their door mate - usual canvassing format is drop then knock later if not in, which does work - but I found that some folk just like to know what the price might be before ringing (maybe they would of been embarrassed if they find it's a little more than they can afford?) this way they know price beforehand so no surprises - always say its subject to conditions tho (is it a one off? Monthly or bi-monthly etc..)

did people really have fortnightlys? ???

Around here we do and guess what all my round is built on fortnightlys.
I have 6 monthly rounds but they are all new build site the rest are fortnightly.
Its an advantage of living in the north of england ;D

You know, once you get too much work, speak to your 'fornightlies' and suggest you increase the price, but decrease the frequency to four-weekly.
I do similar, but instead of having the more common monthly frequency, for number of years now I have priced them very well and suggested every-other-month (six times per year), and they mostly go for it.
I make a point of saying that many window cleaners still rigidly stick to four-weekly cleans, yet in my opinion, they don't need doing so often, so they actually save money, and still have a regular - fully insured - window cleaner.
I have a lot of work like this, and it works really well; they even seem pleased to see me.
-
I have had just short of 900 pound come in on houses a Month in the last 4 weeks.
-
It's going very well. I give 80% off the first cleans so get a good take up. Trouble is that they all cancel after the first clean :) .
-
having recently moved area, I need to build up some work around here instead of commuting 70+ mile round trip, its difficult to get started tho where nobody knows you from Adam. and as you say with dark nights, the recession etc. yeah I think I'll leave it til spring! can't beat a bit of good old fashioned procrastination! ;D

whats canvassing ??? ??? ??? :o :o :o :o

Ive done this tosh on my smaller rounds to make them worth while cleaning. If instance the last round i did that on was being charged £6 a fortnight but was producing under £100 a clean and after 6 months no new customers so i increased them to £8 every 4 weeks. I havent picked up any new work here but the increase in hourly earning and travelling and collecting makes it seem worth while now.
How much more are you charging for 6 weekly/bi monthly?
Danny

have been lucky with weather, by time rain gets to pershore its normally stopped, or stopping. got fantastic customer base there, just would like to get some closer to home. I'm gonna try chepstow nxt, just down the road. heard the window cleaner there is pricing higher so he can work less!

well done, keep up the hardwork steve!
Thats a great amount, how many hours are you canvassing a week?
I've took marks advice earlier in the post about quoting on a card, ive printed some up today so will be putting them through every door with a leaflet on the real dirty ones that is that nobody is in!
-
I don't canvass. Someone else is out doing it. It has probably taken about 45 hours to get that in on his own
