I'm wondering about trying here.

http://www.ncsonline.co.uk/57_HP_Lamb_Vacuum_Motor_3_Stage

Just waiting to hear about them.

Obviously they list flanged motors only, so just like the old days
removing the flange ::)

AJB will they fit it  what happened to the Imperial vacs Amtech used to sell and it will be my local Prochem dealer that will be fitting it

These are the motors i switched to 18 months ago.
I had to make a bracket as they are 3 point fitting as
opposed to 2 point.
Lamb ametek bought Imperial Motors out.
Ametech now fit these as standard equipment, they sell
a bracket kit, which looks just like mine.

http://www.amtechuk.co.uk/shop/vacuum-parts-cid-89-1.html

The motors listed have the flange so you will need to remove it.
I used to buy from Accesory planet off Ebay but he's got none
at the moment.

the photo on ebay is not an Amtech motor .......the visible difference is in the securing bracket / flsnge which is black plastic on the advert. The motor on the box does look like an Amtech one.

I have just had a similar one as the advertised one go on a Prochem machine I aquired recently and was told the motor concerned had just been fitted.

Sparking like a welder in spite of having loads of brush length.

I bought one of those motors from spares to go, it lasted 6 minutes before burning out, i called them and they did send a replacement the next day, that lasted 6 weeks before blowing in a customers house, fusing the machine and causing the smoke alarm to go off!!!

To be fair to them after the second one blew they offered me a full refund and also paid for the motors to be returned to them.

Maybe it was a bad batch!!

Dont know Robert, China?, India? America? Europe? was just saying that it could have been a bad lot when i purchased one 4 months ago, given that they gave up a full refund so easily maybe they had other similar complaints. Not to say that if they are selling them now that you or anyone else would have the same problems.

Didnt realise that giving out information and trying to be unbiased in the process meant i would have to justify myself!!!

Hope your happy with that robert!!!

Tony

I thought the price from amtech was steep too but then you also need a bracket and a gasket.  the overall price including vat was over £200.

but the new 5.7" high suction motor is quality and worth every penny.

The Amtech motors are the Lamb 117123-13
that i used to get from Accesory planet.

Perfect illustration of complete lunacy going on here.

Question:  been quoted a fair price for a quality vac motor that will last ages if treated correctly - where can I find a cheaper one?

Answer:  you can get cheap ones here but they're rubbish and will blow up

Ooohhh I'll shop around till I find the cheapest please!!

Jim Neal the best thing about your post is at least you kept it short this time instead of one of your usual rants that is a page long but you still come across as a right smart arse its a simple question £166+vat for a 3stage lamb vac its over priced in my opinion when you can get a smilar vac from Cleansmart for £125+vat also having to pay £18+vat for a bracket to fit the vac is a joke.

as I said in my other post they all stick together, why they know they are needed, simplez ::)

Not to leap to Jims defence, he's a big boy and can handle himself! But he's got a point - your vac motors are an integral part of your setup - it doesn't make sense to faff around to save a few quid when if you lose half a days work when it goes pete tong you'd be worse off anyway.

Plus, I have to add that I don't think jim comes across as a smart arse, he's helped me and plenty others in the past with his experience - and bearing in mind that aint his job, I'm always grateful for whatever help I can get.

My 2c worth anyway.

Who"s faffing around we are talking about the same Lamb vacs here to me £40 cheaper is a big saving.

£40 is not to be sniffed at, the problem lies when you're ordering from eBay etc and you don't know what your going to get from one transaction to the next, I think that's the point Jim was trying to make.

Very witty. Ignore any opinions that don't suit what you want to hear, and spend 3 days shopping to save an hours worth of wages. Great plan!

Cleansmart sell the 116859-13 1200w
Amtech the 117123-13 1500w high lift.
different spec entirely, hence price differential.

Accessory planet usually stocks the 117123-13
at £100.
http://www.ncsonline.co.uk/57_HP_Lamb_Vacuum_Motor_3_Stage
£89 + vat

Nobodies talking about cheaper motors, or dodgy fakes, merely
value for money.

In Amtechs defence i will say the motor will be with you ASAP.
You don't HAVE to buy a bracket, make one.

AJB

Read on here the other day about a water sealed motor  what number is that and who supplies them surely that is the one to have in future.Providing it has Super Turbo Suction also and back end turbo  drying power

Those motors are the 6.6 motors 12236-18
as yet nobody knows whether these can be
used in a series arrangement, probably not as
Lamb Ametek don't like series setups any more.
The lift is less than the 117123s, but the CFMs
are approx' 40% more.
I can't be certain but i think Amtech are researching
them at the moment.
