cold

advantages?

brushes and hoses shouldnt wear as much as hot i presume

leaks and drips more often with hot i presume

less expense to clean windows

no chance of a gas explosion

cheaper insurance

less faffing about

disadvantages?

hoses more difficult to manage in cold conditions

more downtime during extreme weather

more time needed to clean dirty first cleans

Gas here, tbh the advantages do seem to outweigh the initial outlay and running cost. I've done a limited number of jobs (read less then 10 or so), but the time saved even on maintenance cleans should more then make up for the slight increase in running cost. Finally got my lovely alu. mushroom vent in, just waiting for the rain to stop.  :P

Warm hands, easy to use hose, reeling back in as well. Dirt just flies off the window. Easy to set up, easy to fill.
Disadvantages would be insurance, can't think of another one.

ps. there is no chance of a gas explosion. Lpg tanks are made to vent before pressurizing so much that it will blow. Unless the safety system is bypassed or sabotaged. Sure you do get a nice cooking flame, but I think you'd get the point after your van is on fire. Also, I don't have any leaks at all. Which I am glad of. Some brushes aren't suited for hot, but others shouldn't have any problems. Gardiners flocked dual trim seems to be holding up nicely.

Mythbusters Episode 142 – No Pain, No Gain *Gas Canister Rocket*

Quote
The Build Team constructed a shed to California building code, placed a grill (with a full tank) inside, and stocked it with wood and charcoal to ensure a long and hot fire. When they ignited the shed, the pressure relief valve on the propane tank eventually opened and vented the gas. For all subsequent trials, Grant disabled the valve on every tank. The second trial involved a tank placed directly on a propane-fired burner; this time, the tank exploded and threw shrapnel up to 300 ft (91 m) in all directions.

Heck they even shot a tank with a tracer(!) round on another episode and it still didn't blow up.
