The last few years I have been meaning to start up a database and start sending out reminders to my old clients. I have just downloaded cleaners mate and mean to start using it.
If I may ask you guys what works best. A reminder post card, or a letter. I have spent ages new advertising but now feel its best to spend time on my existing clients and don't know where to start. Does just a simple reminder letter work best. Any advice to help me get started would be great. Thanks guys

Sometimes Luc, it's the actual ACT of contacting existing clients that triggers the action. I often get a "I've been meaning to get in touch for ages and then your letter came through the door" call.
Mike Halliday used to have some great postcards but if you cannot do that in the time frame (Xmas will soon be here)a nice friendly letter should do the trick.
The trick here is just to DO something, rather than worry for weeks about a letter or postcard being the best (I know because I have procrastinated many times in the past).

Postcards are quicker to do (no stuffing envelopes)
If you do your own then use the front for your message, the back for the address. Can you feed your printer with postcards and directly print onto them?
The nice thing about sending to existing clients is the postcard doesn't have to have anything to do with carpet cleaning I used to buy from here.....

Then use half the back for the message, the other half for the address

What a great, simple idea. Thanks Mike.

Like Garry says just DO something, if timing was ever the biggest response factor it's about now. I send out postcards saying hurry if you want to book for before Christmas and no offers at all.

Mike,
why do you no longer send postcards from the company you mentioned?

I didn't need to,
at the time my leaflet strategy was to do the same homes every month. so it got to a point that 90% of my existing customers received my leaflet every month........... so i got calls from my regular customers saying...." i just got your leaflet"
but 5-6 years ago i did a lot of postcard marketing using judges postcards, i think they worked out at 9p each

How many leaflets a month do you pump out, if you dont mind me asking
