I've just changed my membranes and filters on a 300gpd, 10" RO system.
I have had this set up for just over 4 years and have only changed the fiters previously around a year and a half ago.
I was never that bothered because I was getting around 28-32 out of it, even after not changing it for ages and it didn't seem like it was ever going to get much higher than this.
I was really surprised after the change to be getting a tds of 5 out of the RO because when I first bought the kit the lowest reading I can remember was 13.
Has the quality of the membranes and filters improved over the years or is there some other explaination as to why the reading from the RO is now a lot lower.
Regards,
Lance

Bristol and wessex water flushed their pipes recentley.I think it dropped around 100 on our tap water TDS reading.I don't know about Swindon but they might have done similar, even upgraded their filters...

In response to the original post, check your tds coming out of the tap, it tends to fluctuate if they have been doing work on the mains pipes, or at different times of year. Only way it would make sense! unless you have altered your waste valve and wasting more water, and thereby increasing the quality of pure....

I've not altered a thing in over 4 years. 1st time I've changed the membranes in that time. Filters had been changed just the once.
tap tds was around 330 but not checked it recently.
I'm just very happy that it's coming out the RO at 6 and not 32 like it has been for around 2 years. :o
Should save me a few quid on resin. ;D
