Title: Possible Crucial trading carpet
Post by: Paul Redden Countryfresh on October 25, 2011, 11:19:57 am
Custy has asked me to clean this HSL carpet from John Lewis. It has waft and weft yarns running through
the carpet. (see pics) So alarm bells ringing  :o The ribs would cause overwetting with HWE so L/M the way to go.
Not sure the best way Shampoo and dry vac or M/S and towel. Dry Granule would be awkward on the stairs.

Any thoughts appreciated
(its not too soiled)

I have had a coupe of thoughts regarding this.

1. It does look a bit risky for HWE. Is it possible to contact the supplier to find out who made it then find out what is recommended.

2. Did you really need to start two threads on this subject? :)

Paul

I came across this exact carpet a while back and as you recognised the risks, the customer had a large offcut which i took and tested for shrinkage.
It did shrink a lot although i did wet it quite a lot but it was too risky, my customer had pet urine on this carpet so i declined to take it on it was just a staircase so not worth the risk, why on earth make carpets that cant be cleaned, they are expensive too ???

I know quite a few of us ordered samples from CT.
A one inch square wasn't one inch after wetting and leaving to dry and I now carry that sample around just incase I need to show customers.

Thanks for reply James, yeah hand tooling it would def overwet it, you lose the suction on those ribs, as it's not too bad I might just
M/S and towel it. She was miffed they didn't tell her about the cleaning problems  ::)

Nevil not trying to start two threads forgot to post pics and put it on a new thread instead of adding it on a reply Doh!
