Title: oven cleaning business
Post by: clifford123 on November 14, 2005, 12:04:13 pm
hi all...new to the forum ;) Anyway i intend to venture into the oven cleaning business. After running a successful business over 16 years a made a big mistake and bought into a franchise rip off (not cleaning but food related) so had my fingers and wallet burnt severely.....This time i will NOT be going down the franchise route, but intend to spend a couple of thousand to buy the knowledge and the basic start up equipment (visiting a company based in shropshire next week).........AM DOING THE RIGHT THING?....To anyone who has recently started in this business, is there really a good demand for this service??? :-\ Any ideas as to the best way to start and gain what i feel is around 20 cleans per week.....am i being over optomistic??? Any input would be much appreciated :D :D

Hi Clifford123

Welcome to the forum. I'm relatively new too, but i have been in contract cleaning for a year or so.

Having had the idea to go into oven cleaning, for instance, I would then do the market research to ascertain whether or not the level of interest/potential customers would sustain the venture. Only then would I spend any money on training, equipment and such.

Good luck

Freddie

Clifford,

Out of sheer curiosity, what was the name of the food franchise that you were involved with? tell us more if you dare!

In my opinion for what its worth, the oven cleaning business is really only viable if you think of it as a add-on to ones existing cleaning services! most people will only use this service once or twice a year at most, so its going to take sometime & money to drum up enough business, thats unless you want to get involved with the specialist commercial kitchen cleaning companies that affiliate themselves with gas/electrical maintenace contractors to service ducting/extraction fans & HVAC units at major offices and restaurants in city locations!

good luck
