Post by: GB Window Cleaning on October 20, 2011, 09:21:40 pm

now its just occurred to me that ive given her the addresses and prices for my jobs uptill apiril this year!

and just thinking about it now my heart sank when i realised this  :o

whats to stop her giving this info to her husband and him cavassing my work???

oh dear, i think i might have done something very silly here  :-[

Yep they dont need a list of your customers, just your income and outgoings with supported paperwork.

if she did do think she would lose her job, not to mention would end up getting on the wrong side of the law.

I would call them in the morning and speak to your accountant, I dont think your accountants assistant would be that stupid.

Calm down, GB  ;D.
There will have to be some confidentiality shown by......I can't remember, now  ;D. And how hard do you think that information is to come by, anyway? You'd only have to knock a few doors and follow you.
And as a window cleaner, he might not want any more work and his might be better and better priced than yours  :D.
Your customers would also have some say in this, too.
You're worrying over nowt  ;).

Very true, I dont think you have anything to worry about. Besides, someone tried to undercut me a few years ago after he was run out of his own town (Swindon) by other Swindon cleaners. He travelled to Witney, Oxfordshire as a result to try and build a round but alot of my customers didnt accept his cheaper quote as they were happy with my service. You will be suprised how loyal customers can be. I lost 3 customers to him and two have since come back. The third one always waves and looks really awkward when she sees me, as if she ants to ask me something.... ;D

The accountants will value their reputation and won't let things like that happen. I knew of an accountant once that was caught embezzling money. She was shown the door, that was it and it was all hushed up.
They valued their reputation more than the money that went missing.
And you're probably not the only window cleaners on their books.

She won't bat an eyelid; it's her job; she'll be doing that all day long and probably never even think about her husband's business.
I guarantee you won't lose any work because of this and if you do, I'll replace it for you.
Mine are underpriced though  :D.
Seriously, there's nothing to worry about.

For my accountant I give him...
1. a folder with receipts for each month in a seperate nyrex folder ie 12 folders.
2. statements for each of my bank accounts including joint accounts
3. Household bills (mortgage, Life assurance, household insurance, electric, gas, council tax, water etc)
4. George printouts for income, expenses, and finacial reports.

Think thats the lot. My accounts are currently with my accountant so I cant check the folder but I dont list the address's and prices though, however, I do keep it available in case Mr Taxman wants to investigate my accounts.

In don't give mine the receipts, I have a sheets for each month with the date and entry for each days income and and entry for each expense.
