Title: Lost a customer today because
Post by: ian1965 on October 19, 2011, 09:32:52 pm
Lost a customer today because they said that the pure water was leaving a film on the glass-I was at a bit of a loss as to what to say to her, except I have had any one say that to me!  ???

We lost three in the last month . . . . . no reason why, just a brief note saying they no longer required their windows cleaning !     Really bugs me because we do not know why  ::)

I have a woman who I haven't cleaned since the beginning of the year who still phones me every few weeks to say she doesn't want me to come back. I just say OK right, she's got dementia

She hasn't, you've cleaned them 6 times this year so far; you keep forgetting youve been, its the dementia mate, old age, we understand  ;)

All this recession stuff, winter is coming and the fuel bills are going up 20%. Loads of people worried about their jobs. Its bound to have an effect.

Well i decided to go a differant direction in getting work.We are now offering a clean when you want service....we basically treat every clean as a first clean and charge accordingly....and there are now a few upset wc's in the areas we are targetting.
The customers that are contacting us are doing so because they dont want them cleaned every month, that's ok with us,as i say pricing has to be right..... :)

I am with you on this one Mate.I think customers think we don`t have care about our work. They just don`t have the bolls to be honest.Don`t even give this spineless customers a minute of your time.

As a customer myself (rather than a window cleaner like your goodselves) I can't believe some of the excuses people give you.

My window cleaner annoys me cos he leaves six holes in my garden where he sinks his ladders but i'd have to do the same if i did them myself and I am not climbing a ladder and cleaning my windows in summer let alone in this weather. I can only just get up a ladder, let alone let go with one hand.

I think some people must be mad.  The windows will get dirtier in winter (i would suspect) yet they cancel for £3 a month.  I have mine done every 2 weeks and pay £10 per month. Its worth every penny, even with the big holes.

I dont mind if people cancel at all. They can give no excuse or whatever excuse they like (as long as its not poor standard of work from me). Its their right, I like being able to cancel whatever I like when i see fit, Long tie ins/contracts pee me off. Obviously if it came to them wanting me back that would be a different story, depending on what their reason was and how good the work was. Its just life people, don't worry about it, They do not owe us a living.

We all know that's impossible - why didn't you ask her to show you?

Perhaps if it was windy it blew dust onto it, ive noticed that is one failing with this system if it is windy and alot of dust/pollen in the air, it sticks to the glass before it dries.

As for loosing customes, fortunately we dont loose many, tho when we do it feels kinda personal!  So long as its not cus of our work, then that is their right as customers to do.

However, as mentioned, if they decide to come back, its at a revised price  :D

so dust etc doesn't blow onto trad cleaned windows? think again, it has a far worse result on trad than on wfp cleaned windows

agree, once its dried dirt sticks to traditional cleaned windows. however, with wfp windows are left wet, so dust can get blown onto glass and stick to wet windows.... think bout it. am I wrong anyone?!  ??? ??? :-[

We ought to have a page on here where all the excuses for cancelling are put, then we could print it off, so that if we get a stupid excuse we could get out our list and, after scrutinising it, give some sarcastic answer back, like "haven't had that one before"..........

We had a woman cancel her £3 per month clean for 4 top windows because she'd bought herself a ladder. She must be at least 70, good on her if it was true..... ;D

I lost a nice one today, their Gardiner is going to do them, though he did want me back around Easter to do the windows the Gardiner can't do.   ;D

I feel sorry for the poor Gardiner, they've had him smashing about ten tons of logs in their back garden - for months now.  You should see the absolutely massive amount of logs this guy has done.

I just hope he charges them well; but I doubt it; if they've cancelled me for their Gardiner. ;D

Does it tho?

I did a conservatory roof a couple of weeks ago, lots of trees around, huge conservatory, very windy.  And the side in the wind was  covered in dust, only noticeable once dried.  Sure, it wiped off, it wasnt on there tough or anything, but neither was it blowing off in the still strong wind.  maybe it needed a force 10....  ;D

He's probably charging them £7/8 ph. £10 tops. That's the going rate round here anyway. That's why they always look depressed and why we don't do that many gardens any more  ;D

lost a customer last week because he said i didnt pick my feet up when i walked.  said it was knocking stones off his drive!  nothing to do with the fact that he owed £46 as he'd not paid for 3 months, and i sent him a letter to ask him to pay  :o

when i was a milkman , i lost a custy saying her fridge had broken and didn`t want deliveries any more! lol
people will just make up an excuse rather than say they cant afford it because of...ect.
its just easier to blame someone else.......

Logs fetch money round these parts, so many woodburners, offer to clear them for free. People pay money for logs.

Had one yesterday who said, I like to cancel, not because we are not doing a  bad job, he said in fact we doing an excellent job, but he noticed that THE WINDOWS GET DIRTY MUCH QUICKER  ;D Now this is a new one to me.  :-\

In fact lot of these silly reasons are due to cut back, some people cutting back on their monthly expenses and they feel shy to say they cant afford it.

I got a new customer she said she had a problem with her old windy he never cleaned properly. After I did the job she said that`s a good job. I would come again in eight weeks. The day before the the clean she left a message saying they were still to clean she wanted to wait two weeks. She then got a message from me thanks, but it would be better if she called her old cleaner as I only cleaned if people stuck to an agreed cycle.Bye !

Quarterly cleans are very lucrative.
