Title: Prochem Quad Wand
Post by: Craigp on October 18, 2011, 07:04:27 pm
Got me prochem quad wands from Joe Bristor in the U.S today,! ;D

Top wand, I highly recommend it and it feels like it's built to last which was my main gripe with the evo wand which felt like it would not last to long.

I bought two wands worked out at £ 390 each plus duty, far cheaper than I could have got here.

how much was the duty?

£80

Or £40 per wand

Joe put the price of each wand as $300 ;)

PS. I have not had the bill yet, which is strange as the last few times customs been asking before they allow the courier to delivery to me.

Oh add customs handling fee £8 !

When you say £40 a wand assume that must be import duty as well as vat. The vat of course being recoverable

Craig having tried numerous wands over the years I have now settled with the Quad jet. In my view the best all round wand and it is used for 80% of my work, the other 20% I use the Evo 6 jet ( 2 inch bore).

Paul, I remember you saying you was a fan of the quad, I see what you mean now!

Did you have a glide and jet extenders?

No wish I did get the Glide though, and it does drip badly so I would like some check valves but is it possible to get short ones?

Does any suppliers in the UK sell them?

Contact Joe he invented the inserts to stop the dripping.

Dont need a glide and it should not drip for about 12 months, then just replace o ring.

Just bought myself a Quad (Polaris 500), goes like S--T, fantastic around the vines, sorry boys no carpets out here to clean - so treated myself to the real thing!

Don't say that I just ordered a glide for it!  ;D

I'm not fully sold on glides, but it should help my shoulder strain, from a cleaning and drying times perspective I think without is better.

Ordered, check valves, soft touch valve and glide.

French I just bought 400cc enduro bike, even more fun! ;D

if your sticking a glide on it - you really want to get jet extenders as well to compensate for increased height

I did, stainless steel ones as the chrome plated brass extenders crack easy.

In my tests glides do not dry the carpet any quicker rather slower but they do make the job a bit easier. My green glides have sat on the van shelf for the last 3 years.

Paul, I've been saying that for years. You can't restrict the airflow and have quicker drying times.

I agree to a point but the monster TM's in the US coupled with 2.5" vac hose really does pull that air through, I got fed up with using 2.5" vac hose it was too tedious moving it around corners etc but coupled with a Ti wand and glide it did give me drier carpets.

Shaun 2.5 inch is going to give better vacuum/drying full stop as are bigger trucks/ blowers.

But that's when the glide works at it's best rushing the air through faster I was not so sure that glides work so well on smaller machines regarding fast drying times as has been said I think we believed in the hype of fast drying but they are kinder to the body.

Looking for something lighter

Andrew a cheap lightweight 2 jet s bend is your best bet with a glide as they are just inch and a half bore. Once you got up to inch 3/4 and 2 inch bore you get better drying but more weight in the wand and more suction.

I have the inch and 3/4 at moment with a green glide,
the weight has never bothered me, however i get pains in elbow
about an hour after i get home.
Getting on a bit now and the old body is startin to tire.  ???
