I have been told to put fish in your tank overnight!
great idea,im going to get a couple and try it!
-
if this was true, pond wouldnt freeze over
-
would the trout in my freezer do
-
i tried this, just ended up wasting loads of money on tins of tuna, and all the flakes blocked my pump ;D
-
Put a few tennis balls in there - that'll stop it freezing.
-
i was told you still need to insulate tank but the movement in the tank will stop it freezing!
Plus obviously tank is warmer and not open to the elements like a pond in your garden!

Don't put water in it. That'll stop it.

Chuck a bag of salt in it.

It won't do the fish any good, though.

Goldfish will do the job
Just hope I remember to take them out before cleaning the windows

I would be very surprised if it works.
Fish respond to cold water by slowing down their body's metabolism and becoming sluggish to conserve energy. It's a natural instinct for them to be fairly dormant in winter until the beginning of spring when the water temperature increases.
On the other hand if you put half a dozen goldfish in there and one hungry piranha you are pretty much guaranteed the goldfish will swim like f*ck. ;D

The advice on this forum gets better and better! ;D
