Post by: the red carpet on November 09, 2005, 05:11:24 pm
hi all i have a job for tommorow and would like some advice if possible.

sombody has trod in wood stain and walked it across the room.
the carpet is in a show home so is brand new and so pos treated with some sort of staingaurd.
the stain was only caused today.

also if i cant rectify it there going to throw it out so is there anything you would suggest using if i cant get it out with conventional chemicalls ie. nail varnish remover, white spirit etc.

You should ask what type of woodstain it is.  Water based or oil based

Hi Red,

With these type of products a lot depends on how permanent it is designed to be .

If it is a cross linking resistant product then once it has 'gone off' there really is very little you can do.

I would try detergent,ms,white spirit, acetone on a cloth to see if there is any colour transfer.

If not write it off as you could spend a lot of time achieving little.

Good luck
