how do you guys cope with the amount of new window cleaners coming into your area
-
is a problem, im not picking any new custies up,a good hard winter will see em all off.
Keep at it ,i thnk there are plenty of windows to clean for all of us.
-
same problem here....just keep on trucking is all you can do tbh....
-
Loads of window cleaners spring up in the summer, and forget their customers in the winter.
"we did have a window cleaner, hasnt been for ages though" is the usual thing people say when we are canvassing.
or
Custie: "yeah we already have a window cleaner"
Me: "so when did he last clean them?"
Custie"8 months ago, dont know where he is at the moment, their well overdue"
Wont be long and they will realise that thier window cleaner is long gone.
Its hard cos it gives us regulars a bad name, makes us all look like lazy fly by nights.

rub my hands when it starts to rain and get cold ;D happens every year.
-
can't say it worry's me at all,I keep picking up work and lose very little.
-
i went out knocking 3 hours yesterday and 2 hours friday night and got 16, there is loads of work out there, a lot of newbies knock for one night get a few and think work will come in, they spend more time talking to yell about adverts than actually knocking
-
Has not effected me, but have seen a lot more new window cleaners this year than before.
-
If you don't mind me asking chap-what's your best method when it comes to door knocking ? I wear my uniform and try to look smart, knock an ask if they have or would like a regular window cleaner - 99% say an abrubt "no thanks" and shut the door.
Am I saying the wrong things or just unlucky?

Try to make myself look smart, offer good customer service, watch my prices. It was better when you could just tell 'em to shove off but its getting tougher now ;D
-
Easy: undercut them.
-
I think we are reaching a point of saturation as there are customers who fall out and cannot afford window cleaning. But there is still a large influx of newbies this will lead to some price warring and customer grabbing. This actions are newer for any industry as it leads to lower level of professional standards. If you have a full book you will not be effected but have a negative effect on the rest.

Wake up you mite think you operate on your own, you are part of an industry undercutting prices is not the way Mate.
