because you have to give discounts of 60% +
then they take 50% of your money
and they keep hold of your bit for months before you get it
you could be rushing around a 25 sq mile area working for next to nothing
sounds good to me...

Kev,
We've had quite a few posts about Groupon in the past, and it seems, after the numbers were calculated, that it means a lot of work for little financial return.
I know you mentioned 'the long game' which is fair enough, but don't you think that canvassing might bring in better customers for a better return for less physical work, and still be in it for the 'long game'?

but there wont be a long game going down this route - you'll have gone bust or worked yourself into an early
grave giving most of your hard earned cash to some one else.
excuse me if i'm wrong but were you not Dr Windows ? - the same dr Windows that was canvassing 50 + new customers every couple of weeks ? - i would stick to that plan - it's a much better long term and end game.
still please let us know how it all goes - the results and repeat customer % would be interesting

If your doing this then put a limit on the number of vouchers .... a hairdressers in Brum went bust because of groupon.
They didnt put a limit on the amount of vouchers and groupon kept printing them. They were earning less than it cost them to pay their staff per customer. The regulars stopped going when they were paying full price and the person sitting next to them were paying 50-60% less.
From a VAT registered company to bust in 2 months !

See that's mental.
It's just under a tenner for a semi for THREE cleans.
So that's say £3 a clean.
Not forgetting that groupon get 60% of the £3.00
So that's less than £1.50 per clean for a 3 bed semi; and you've got to clean them THREE TIMES for that money?!!! :P
If those figures are right (remembering I am a Geordie), that's ruddy stupid.

Kevin - just read your target below your posts. I love that. You need targets to progress. Writing down your targets and dating when you will achieve them really does work and it was nice to see it here :)
-
57 bought so far. Guessing most of them will be dirty, so enjoy a week and a half of first cleans for about £115.
Let's hope a good proportion stick with you. For that much effort for so little short-term return, I sincerely hope they do. Keep us informed.

I can easily work out why Groupon is good for Groupon and why it's good for the 'customer' but what the heck does the person who signs up get out of it?
You cannot have a system where all three parties involved get back more than they put in.

thanx lee

I'm going to wish you well with it.
Got to add though any business that costs you to do it (if the £1.50 per job is true, it will cost you) is not worth it on the hope of them becoming a regular customer.

74 sold now so two weeks of first cleans.
Could be great business if they stick with you....

too right
i think if only 15 to 20% stay as full time customers it would be a very worthwhile exercise!

You rock! Like Griff, near Nuneaton.
