never see anything about this on here
how many of yous move all the furniture and clean underneath it and return it to where it was ?
if so do you charge extra for this
I feel moving the furniture takes up most of the time
-
I move and replace most furniture I have to do something for my money ;D

I still move furniture around but NOT if it's full or has items on top that are likely to fall, etc.
Today I was told NOT to bother moving a particular item as it's got the snake's glass tank on top and the snake is either at the back or underneath and might get a fright :o :o :o :o
-
haha have you checked your waste tank
because when i give my price its with the furniture moved but if I was to not move any furniture I say I could cut my time in half
-
Yes I move most furniture.
It's perfectly possible to have an adult conversation with clients about what is to be moved and why before you start cleaning so that all parties understand each other and the reasons for moving furniture or not as the case may be.
For example many wardrobes would collapse if moved whilst full.
Sideboards full of glass and china? "Certainly Madam, I'll move it once you've emptied it." Its amazing how many clients then decide that the more practical way forward is to go round it.
And I've lost count of the number of clients who expressly tell me NOT to move the TV for fear of cables becoming loose and them loosing their cable/whatever connection.

what about beds ???
single bedrooms inparticular
-
I always tell people I will move settees etc , I ask them to move small items , I find they take more time , it amazes me when I turn up to find coffees cups, slippers, papers , toys etc covering a room , I tell the customer they have just enough time to move it all while I get my kit out of the van.
I only move beds if it is simple
Tv equipment I no longer move , wooden flimsy looking furniture I decide on a case by case basis.
-
"furniture remove/replace if possible". "no electical goods will be moved"
smaller items should be removed form the area to be cleaned prior to our arrival.......
that is how we word it........ ref the smaller items..........if only at times ;D
-
same as Helen,
tell ask them to remove all small items, and I will not touch the electrical items eg TV and I will not move anything that will break or give me a hernia. Usually works.
Beds are very dodgy in the early days had a few collapse as you cannot see how well supported they are, I now put beds in the hernia inducing category unless the custard tells me that it is on castors and moves easily.
;D ;D

good way off putting it
-
I do move Beds. But now discuss it with customer s some are heavier than me ;D ;D and they even break my skidders.
However if you do not mover Bed and just do traffic lanes obviously you would charge less.
Often find Handcuffs and other such items when I move them

Does any one charge extra for moving several items e.g sofas and coffee table? If so how much? Was thinkin about this the other day wile lugging a 3 peice suite around a livingroom
-
I helped a customer move an empty Welsh dresser earlier this morning, then went back this afternoon to help him put it back. It was an old boy who'd had a stroke a few years ago.
Didn't charge any more, although they gave me a £6 tip. The goodwill from a small act goes a long way with referals, repeat business etc - much more than charging a few quid for an extra 15 mins work.
I should state that I'm no angel, the gent lived in the street behind mine so didn't incur travelling time etc.

I moved a bed once and found one of those lady things shaped like a small torpedo I kicked it to one side while I cleaned and then kicked it back, the customer never knew I'm sure but she was about 75-80 years of age just goes to show you your never too old :o
