Been doing this custy for about 6 months and she moved to another part of my village, she asked me to quote her new house so left the side gate open for me to see the back too as they were not going to be in.
Turned up today in the small cul de sac and seen two window cleaners cleaning trad, they looked right cowboys but maybe they done a fantastic job,I drove in the drive,he jumped off his ladder opposite and ran over to the house I was going to quote,he said to me.......................
"I've been on holidays in Australlia for a while,is she in" to which I replied "No she 's not".
I would imagine he thought that the lady who did live there rang me for a quote and did'nt realize that somebody else has moved in the property in his absence,he said he does all these houses along here and gave me a dirty look.
As I put my quote through the letter box and was getting back into my van I overheard a neighbour saying to him "Blimey,I thought you emigrated it's been that long".
I would imagine he put a quote through the house if the neighbours told him the previous occupants have moved or probobly done the windows not knowing the people has moved or just done them to keep the house on his round but then again I like to think this customer is loyal and will stick with me,what do you think as it's a catch 22 situation,I don't want to thread on anybodys toes but am happy to requote and do a cutomers new house.

f him, if you get the job, knock the rest of the houses, its called business
-
do it and wait for all the others to come to you. If he is a bit hit and miss you won't need to canvass.

I picked up a couple of houses in a village near me a couple of months ago - I was asked to do a friends house out there - while doing it, woman comes over and says can I do hers as she hasn't seen her cleaner since Xmas coz he buggers off to Tenerife for months on end!
I've got no probs taking her on, and now picked up neighbour and lady just down the road - his loss
-
Get on with it mate ;)
You may pick up more in the street as he probably ain't that reliable.

To answer the original question, it's your right of way. Your customer asked you to quote her new house. You did that. The other guy seems to be a 'This is my patch' advocate. If it were me, I would smile and say that isn't it good that there's enough work for both of us. ;D

Same happened to me last week, got asked to quote for a house in a square as they hadn't seen window cleaner for 6 months. Went to price and guess what the window cleaner was there.
We've now taken 9 of the 12 properties :) They're getting done tomorrow.

where abouts are you? Sounds familiar to what happened round here a while ago. WC'er went home to Aussie for 6 months. Came back and expected his custies to be waiting for him!! He had told them he was poorly to get the sympathy vote :)

I've never had it but if a window cleaner claimed 'all these houses are mine' I'd laugh in their face. I would never undercut other wc'ers for moral reasons but that's just ridiculous... Don't know how they have the audacity to do it. Just carry on, the customer wants you not him, and be peaceable to him.
