We are having a water meter fitted within the near future which is compulsory. I would like some advice please on how you separate your business use from you domestic use as when you fill up at home you are actually taking the water away from the property and not putting it down the drain as most of the domestic bill is charges at sewerage rate rather then water used. I have had a water supply professionally fitted which directly taps into the mains supply to the house and then bought up into the drive within a manhole so I can use it with ease of access when filling the van. This is the only source of water that I use to fill then van, I think this could possible be used as metering point? How do people on water meters work yours out and what is the approx cost for filling a 600 litre van? Any help would be appreciate. Thanks Steve

they will tell you it is about £3-4 for a ton of water, and you think great, then you get ur bill and cry, i got my progected bill for the next 12 months and they want 1200 quid and that is only sometimes filling up at home, get use to over £100+ a month water bills

I was wasting about 60% of water made on our meter, and using about 800 litres a week pure water. The waste water is great for keeping your lawn green! ;D
I used the same argument with the water company, severn trent/welsh water about not disposing of it, but needed to get a seperate meter fitted by them, but apparently can cost more, as business rates are more, but cannot confirm that last part, as we were renting and wasnt going to fit a separate meter.
I was paying £60 a month. But got a couple of hundred pounds in credit. I went to £40 and still was in credit. That was with welsh water. So not as bad as was expecting.
