This is for you lads who employ ,do you insist they only use Your gear?
i ask because ive now got a great worker in my gang but he doesnt like using my choice of squeegee(wagtail) /pulex bucket on a belt / belt . He asked could he bring his own Ettore squeegee + pouches etc in and i let him , but last week he cut his hand on some small scraper blades that were in his pouch .
on my belts i dont have any pouches and never had any problem with the belt etc that i and my previous workers used . on my belts any cloths are carried through a small metal ring or tucked into the belt .
up till now im the only one carrying a scraper so that the risk of scratching glass is reduced so that no employee goes scraping willy nilly without asking first
part of me thinks, what the heck hes an experienced guy with 4 yrs under his belt, part of me isnt sure

Just bad luck. He probably wont make that mistake again. I dont like wagtails, let him use his own kit or buy him what he wants.
-
Sounds good to men
Ask him if he wants to buy his own hot wfp to use throught the winter too.
Dean.

4 years experience - shouldn't be forgetting sharp scraper blades are in his pouch?

You never made a mistake?

just explain the scraper issue and let him use his proper squeegie, even buy him blades of his choice for his ettore
and at some point you will have to trust staff with a scraper, you can't baby sit them forever.
-
I employ 1 and have let him use scrapers from the day he started after explaining how easy it is to scrape glass and to be carful with it, no problems. I have cut myself b4 now jus by pure lack of concentration. It happens :-\

This bloke is displaying his self indulgence by rejecting your equipment in favour of his own,a classic trait of substance/alcohol abusers.Watch while the little accidents that only cause injury to himself increase in frequency and then spiral out of control as rapidly it becomes obvious that this man is a real danger to anyone or thing in close proximity.A twelve step program of recovery somehow implemented into your workforces schedule may offer a glimmer of hope though your recent staffing experiences might actually be a forewarning of the imminent arrival of Armaggeddon in which case if you are not already a JW then sign up quick and sit back and enjoy.
It could of course just be a small mishap and none of the above apply.

cheers lads-i will just let him use his own gear if he wants
he really is a great worker, hope i can hang onto him. he had 4 yrs working for a commercial firm then a yr on the dole then out of desperation he took a job where the first 4weeks were unpaid then they wanted £2oo for the uniform but he quit at that stage even though they said he could pay in instalments he knew they were bang out of order
