Don`t forget to buy some safety equipment, especially with you just starting,Gaz

just been looking at the ramsay ladders. how does the clutch system work. does the ladder seperate so you can use just one piece if need be.
-
what sort of safety equipment are you thinking of. i'm going to be doing residential. first floor only. does the new safety at working heights regulations have any effect on me using ladders

thanks for that gaz. not too much there to choose from eh ;D
do you have any experience with ramsay ladders. i was wondering how the clutch system on them worked. i've been using lanford ( or something like that ) for the last couple of months and they're really easy to seperate. could use some advise on the best sort of ladders to be using.

hi sunshine, just recently started too
i bought the alloy double a frame with straight legs from lansford, perhaps same as yours. the two sections separate i find very useful. articulated safety feet fitted (i got also from Lansfords- very good)
the other alloys on lansford i think are stanley double pointers (cheaper here: http://www.soapnational.co.uk/acatalog/Ramsay_Ladders.html they have splayed legs which avoids twisting, the sections don't separate (may be modified??) these also come in larger size than previous, necessary for the higher first floors (victorian).
thinking i should have got those perhaps.
i'm personally wondering what safety devices can be used on splayed legs. ie articulated feet wont fit these. anyone have suggestions for this, nothing seems to be on laddersafetysupplies.co.?
i'm not knowledgable about clutch systems, i'm guessing its a catch that swings into place.

thanks andy. i've checked these guys out already and i think you're right about them being one of the cheapest around.
have you had delivery of your goods yet. i'm always a bit dubious about buying online without seeing the product first hand.
as i've only used one brand of ladder so far i think i'm better off sticking to what i know rather than buying something that i can't test run first.
gonna bite the bullet and order from these guys now. thanks for your reply

the wide rojak ladderstop fits the splayed legs perfectly on a 3m-6.5m ramsey the ladder mat works well too, handy for levelling aswell
hope this helps

one day I will manage to use the quote facilty properly!!

thanks gsw
bit of a pain carrying the larger and heavier ladderstop around though i guess.
shame they haven't modified the articulated/swivel feet for splayed legs
just need an ankle bend!!
or, ball and socket joint!
i suppose, fair enough window cleaning ladder design isn't exactly top of the agenda

This is where i got my ladders from lansford Access.
I have the ladder that seperates but does not have splayed feet but had articulated feet fitted to avoid slipping.
Great service next day delivery

I bought my Double A Frame from Midland Ladders and had articulated feet put on (splayed legs, it does work) at the same time and they are great. When searching for a double A frame, I couldn't find better that Midland Ladders - excellent price and the quality is superb.
