yes it was slumpy, i think he did it about 3 years ago, thats why you have only just realised it as he was at least 3 years ahead of everyone :P ;D

ste im sick ov my reels flyin about
was sure id seen sum on ere secured to the roof
just wanted to know ow to do it
n weather they work well there ;)
-
why do your reels fly about gav?mine occasionally falls over if i reel it all out but its very rare.i have 10m of hose from trolley to reel so i can park virtually anywhere and point it in any direction.
leaving the hose in the air from the top of the van could pose even more problems IMO.
-
avnt got em secured in the van atm
just think up in the roof area
which is wasted space could work well ;)
-
Never understood mounting the reel on the roof, even if you would have a boom to extend it over the footpath it's just a bit cumbersome and over the top, no pun intended. I've been using this reel in van setup for the last 2-2,5 years or so, it has changed a bit, but the idea is still the same :

I think it was an extra from the factory. I had it when I bought the van, and as far as I know it always had it?
-
Gav, if you dont mind them on the floor, but dont want them flying about, i have a strip of plywood, that goes the whole width of the van and is wide enough for the hose reel to sit on, the reel is secured to the plywood by 4 22mm pipe clips that have a tap that snaps over so the reel cant come out. This holds the reel in place, but you can also easily remove it by unclipping the taps and removing the plywood from the van.

Isnt the ideal place to have them on the outsides of the doors ?
I am sure I have seen some pictures of van with hose reels mounted on the doors :-\
