Title: van brake

hi
had my  renualt trafic  van in for its 36000 mile service today, had a phone call telling me when there had inspected brakes.
Pads require changing front and back, as well as service there quoted me £490.00 pounds.
i told them only do services, if i take van  to another garage i no and have pads fitted only, will this cause problems with warranty

shouldnt do, as brakes aint covered under warranty

I second that brakes are wear and tear parts , It should cost you half that price mate

inspect the brakes yourself, when i took my old combo van to vauxhall they phoned me and told me one of my rear springs had collapsed and it needed new discs and pads all round, they offered me discount on labour and parts but i said no,

checked it myself and no collapsed rear spring and discs and pads all had loads of life left in them, work must have been drying up at the garage the cowboys

I just did the front pads and discs on my T4 , cost me £65 as i did it myself .

Not related but the cat had also rotted , non gen was £130 , went on ebay and got a de cat pipe for £40 , what a difference !
Not only in cost but the difference in performance is unreal .

You will need to get the work done by a V.A.T. registered garage and use genuine parts to make sure the warranty is not affected. Even though they are "wear and tear" items they will use any excuse to not honour the warranty.
