Title: Christmas Trading

Being new to this biz, what do you domestic Cleaning guys do around christmas holidays.

Do you take the two weeks off, or just quit cleaning on the holiday days?

I am trying to plan but really can't until I know what to plan around.

I would be really grateful for your feedback on this one.

hi there,

if you apply a commercial thinking to this,

we would quote all office cleans £xxx.xx per month, exlcuding public  holidays, therefore if the clean fell on a public holiday they would not be cleaned, other than if they negotaited around it.

apply the saem principle to your domestic clients,  it might be that they dotn want you to clean, in that case we would assume service supplied even if you were unable to carry out the clean,

remember you still need to live, eat and pay the bills even over the holiday period.

Are you working to any terms and conditions on your part? if so then you will have to follow these, which as Martin said should exclude bank hols etc.

If there are no terms and conditions, then it's up to you!  decide on what you want to work, or not, over the xmas hols then write to your custards and tell them, just give them 30 days notice...

Think about it from your custards point of view, if you had finished work for the xmas hols, and were at home relaxing, the family is round enjoying the festive season and the door bell rings.... It the cleaner!!

Only my opinion, I try and have as much time off over xmas as possible, a bit of R & R just like everyone else.

We may be cleaners, but we are hard working people as well.  ;)

Hi I am new to the business too and have decided to have some time off - finish fri 23rd dec and re start Mon 2nd Jan.

my dom cleaning bus is open for work all year round except bank hols (and weekends)

I just let all my customers know when i am working.  I usually take christmas day, boxing day and the day after. also new years day as nobody wants a cleaner when they are nursing a sore head.
Then back to work as usual.  Can't do without being paid any longer either.
