We use them for inside large windows, car showrooms etc. Safe as houses

we used to use similar ladders, but we used them side on to the posts we were working on with a clamp.

Sure, id use one......... if it was wedged between 2 houses!  Pretty cool, but like you say doesnt look like too much and youd be swinging sideways in tight arc back down to the ground!!

anyone know the proper name for these, i need to quote for large commercial gutter job and need to give various options like towers, mewp, boom etc but would consider specialist ladder gear
its box cladding with the usual large gutter behind so ordinary ladders out of question as cannot be secured...any ideas

Yes,I purchased one in the summer for a mansion I do,I used it for the insides of the numerous high lass glass roofs and has paid for itself in a few hours, there is a bar that goes along the bottom for stability, very very sturdy and money well spent ;)

i have one of these. had for about 2 months. and yes, it has a 2ft stabiliser bar at the very bottom. this would take a lot to go over. not as great as it looks tho. if you want to clean anything lower its no good as the piece that kicks out to the right - and has a locking arm to hold it - keeps you away from whatever you are wanting to clean.

feel a lot safer when up a ladder by myself tho.

i can buy one big enough to do this job for only a little more than it will cost me to get a small boom for the day....and i wont have to pay my tame northerner to operate it for me  ;D .....or i can hire one for a weekend for under 40 quid...gotta say they look a bit daunting but probably feels different if its up against a building
maybe i can figure a way to secure top to the edge of the box cladding gutter???

like i say tho. your gutter would have to be the exact level that the top section extends too, else the bottom rigt section will keep you away from the building. i too use for conservatory roofs, easier cleaning from up high. i think they advertise with someone cutting hedges too. i can imagine it would be good for that.

ahhh good point see what you mean...maybe not suitable then, probably go for a tower ,boom would be quickest and safest option tho

Me & my wife looked at these , whilst ladder shopping a few months back ,
We both couldn't stop laughing ,

I still laughed when I saw this opening pic again , as some said , wouldn't feel safe unless wedged between two houses lol .

Fair play if u use one ,
