Title: Whiter than white
Post by: joshem on October 05, 2011, 11:00:58 pm
When I first started out last year I would offer the customers either a 'thorough frame clean' or just a wipe over of the frames. I've been a bit discouraged by the results when spending a long time trying to clean up their frames because the final results do not merit the effort. I've used all sorts of different stuff to clean them except for the one I keep reading about, Viro-Sol. I've since just decided to give them just the 'wipe over'.

The majority of my round was canvassed and, as they have waited for me to approach them, you can understand a lot of my customers have neglected their frames. Is it me or are they beyond restoring? I see websites of companies specialising in frame cleaning with a before and after picture. The before with the frames in an appalling state and the after looking like new frames have been installed! What am I doing wrong? I can't be the only one with this problem, surely?

I haven't got any links as it's been quite a while since I 'gave up' trying to find a solution to decent frame cleaning. I've been thinking about it again recently because of reading about Viro-Sol... the bottle of magic! Just had a quick Google search and found this site: http://www.upvccleaningspecialists.com/NEXGEN/uPVC-cleaning-kit.php (http://www.upvccleaningspecialists.com/NEXGEN/uPVC-cleaning-kit.php). It may be because you're not right up close to the frames that they appear nice and white but, with some of the conditions of my customers' windows, I can't ever imagine them being able to be restored back to anything like that pictured...

there is a paint that a custys can buy that turns the frames white again, it is like a spray,  if any of you custy do this dump them,  as you will have nothing but problems as it runs  for years

I have found that with some upvc frames you can make them look better but there are some that will never look dramatically whiter.
Frames that are close to a busy road and have not received regular cleaning are usually very hard to get completely white again.

contact your local upvc manufacturer or window manu - purchase trade -  solvents / creams very cheap great results use buffing pads to apply creams solvs (different grades) , sometimes need final buff once dry.. finish windows frames wfp ;D ;D
