When that happens I tend to undo the little wheel thing on the side, then it goes up and down as easy as a wh0res drawers.

Hi Jason
For any future issues please feel free to email me directly on alex@agardiner.co.uk
To answer your question - if this occurs on these or any other similar poles, then it probably is the joint-stop tape that has somehow became slightly jammed. If the section will still extend, albeit stiffly, then undo the clamp lever and fully slide the section out - you may need to slightly prise open the clamp jaws to get it out past the tape (do not worry about damaging the tape). When you have extracted the offending section, clean off the residual tape and replace the joint stop-tape at about 130mm up from the base of the section with one and a quarter wraps of electrical insulating tape. To insert the section back in, prise open the clamp jaws and carefully slide the tape past the jaws and then re-assemble the lever arm assembly.
If the section is completely jammed and will not extend then you will need to do one of the following to 'release' the glue on the joint stop tape:
1. Pour some sticky stuff type solvent down between the sections to melt the glue. When free follow the steps above.
2. Then, with a heat gun heat up the base of the section at about 130mm up from base to warm the sections which will release the glue of the tape.
Alternatively as the pole is only a couple of months old give us a ring on the office number (leave a clear message with your name and contact number if no answer) and we can arrange to have it collected, brought back to our workshops and then returned to you free of charge - typically about a 4 day door-to-door service.
