Title: TDS of 120 and still spotless
Post by: Pope vader on September 30, 2011, 01:32:11 pm
done a house this morning came up great, came home and done own house  then checked the tds and came up at 120  went back to house  spotless,  so checked a few i did yesterday all spotless,  (only work yesterdayand today as been on holiday and last time i checked my tds was 2  last friday)

this tds is higher than i get out of the tap,  is a tds of 000 bull, and just a con, as even when i use tap water the windows i do come up fine,  i know this as i do a caravan park with tap water and they are spotless,  the only difference is i have my flow higher

does a higher flow = able to use a higher TDS

I think a higher flow will help. I've done windows with 028 and they've been fine but 120 seems pretty high, interesting to see whats the highest others have got away with

This might be a daft question but if the water out of your tap is 90 why is the water you use to clean windows 120?

Must admit I was thinking that too, doesn't make any sense at all :)

Ori, by checking did you get to see from inside out as you may not pick up spotting from the outside, but from inside it will be magnified.

If you have 90 out of the tap, you should be able to DI only, is that what you do or are you RO?
In this area if we hit 012 spotting will start.

i am di only,  and put tap water in tank then run through the di,  checked it before i went away and it was 0  checked it today and it was 120,  the van was sat for about 5 days,  all the test i have done on the water after the di is 120,  before the di is 75,  i ahve cleaned my house and a neighbours so that i could check and they are all coming up fine,  the only difference is i am running at full flow rate  rather then 50/60,

I sense a replacement TDS Meter is needed

Purified water will not go off in such a short time, it takes literally years. It must surely be you tds meter, probably the battery in it.

I don't clean above 6, like to be at 0-1 really.
120 - might aswell clean with bog water :)

i too thought it was the tds meter, but every thing else i test is showing normal readings,

WES

i only cleaned with this by accident, as i didnt think it would rise that much in a week,  but before i went wfp i bought a pole to see if i would like wfp and use to just connect it to the outside tap and i never had any spots then

Interesting: my pre-treatment tds is about 400 (Kent - hard water area)
If I clean above 30 I can get spots on the windows, and that's on a cloudy day, on a sunny day you can't use above 10-15 round here. I wonder if it has something to do with the nature of the impurities involved.
I tend to keep mine below 5 if I can.
Down here the water is very chalky, what about your area?
