Title: pre-vaccing

sorry about the quality as I did it my self so theres a bit of camera shake, it was done with a small flip camera

Post by: Colin Day on September 28, 2011, 05:32:50 pm: You can use your Airflex as long as you use an in-line filter. They don't really cost that much, certainly cheaper than a decent vacuum cleaner....

Post by: Jim_77 on September 28, 2011, 05:58:27 pm: If you mean those filters like you use on truckmounts, I wouldn't recommend doing that Colin, because unless you use exactly the same filtering as on a vacuum cleaner, fine particles will still be drawn through.

Jim, you can buy a vacuuming device to fit a portable. It's a turbo-head floor tool attached to a wand tube, with a built-in dust downer that connects to your solution line. It basically sprays water in to the hose to mix with the dust, to stop the dust becoming airborne and going through the vacs.

Never used one so haven't got a clue how good they are. Anyone else? Might consider getting one for the TM if they're any good!

I must admit ever since I bought a royal vac from eBay I have been vacuuming more and more I don't even need to agitate on most carpets.

I got mine from WOC. I don't use it as Mike did though...

As Jim said, probably not a good idea to vacuum dry with your porty. Unless of course you used a suitable filter of the same standard as your hoover bag....

but the big thing about this video is it show how domestic vacs don't do such a good job, i have 3 industrial vacs in the shed but...... 'they are too heavy' so she went to Asda and spent £70 on a cylinder vac that she can use..... its got as much suction as an asthmatic 90yr old

Oh at last, someone with a bit of credibility in the industry saying what I've been trying to get across for years.
I love inadvertantly (ok then on purpose ;D) showing the customer what we get out of the carpet by just vacuuming properly. This in turn makes our job easier if you've battered all the loose/dry stuff out first.

The same rule applies to upholstery. Why some just pre-spray which in turn means you are fighting to extract mud is beyond me. Numerous customers who have walked in at a certain point have said how great the suite now looks.....I'd only pre vac'd at that point ;D

Post by: Shaun_Ashmore on September 28, 2011, 08:05:40 pm: I used to clean my carpets specially the downstairs open areas 4-5 times a year my mrs pinched my sebo and the carpets look far better for longer since she got rid of the crumb catcher we had before so i need to clean them less probably giving me more time to do other things around the house!!!
