Hi guys-have been going for 5months now and would like a stab at some commercial work-Any hints or tips to landing some would be greatly appreciated..!

Personally, after having done some for 5 or 6 years and then lost it, I wouldn't bother pursuing large contracts.
Other people are queueing up, cutting each others throats trying to get any large comm job so they can employ someone else to do it at a low rate.
Quality is rarely taken into account, just who can be cheapest. It's often a race to the bottom.
If you want to employ, (a whole different minefield but lots do it) then comm might be good in the long run.
I still do some comm work, but am not actively seeking more.
I have concentrated on improving the quality and density of my residential work instead.
Bitter? You betcha

as above ,
as a one man band you can not beat a quality domestic round.
