scrims, microfibre for the cills
-
Scrims all the way!
Micro's are crap IMO, I've tried loads & still to find one come anywhere near a scrim! ;)
-
i prefer scrim, only use microfibre when on leaded they are quicker i find,i use the green unger ones quite good
-
Microfibre they last forever , scrims fall to bit after a couple of years

Microfibre, the green Unger ones from WCW. Old primark T shirts for the sills

I used scrim for years but haven't used one in ages now. To be honest, unless you are doing Georgian or leaded without WFP, I find it doesn't really matter as they would only be used for detailing. The way I work, very little detailing is needed anyway. For doing leads or Georgian by hand, I would only use the large, smooth microfibres. They glide over the glass much better.

both for me.
flatweave microfibres for detailing/buffing
towelling variety micros for sill cloths
scrim for detailing /buffing on damp days(they last longer before they need changing).
the large flatweave microfibres are just great.you can use them straight out of the pack.dont wash them with fabric softener though.youll ruin them.

Order both and decide for yourself ;).
I use both, but I wouldn't like to do without scrim. Micro's are good but I like scrim as a good all rounder.
As Dazmond says, micro's get wetter quicker on damp days. Probably because they are so effective.
Having scrim as well, means I don't have to keep changing microfibres. It might just be me being lazy, though.

My only experience of microfibre is a few sent free to me by SOAP NATIONAL. i didnt like them , eventually selling them on along with various other dud purchases, on Ebay
i really like scrim

dont know what scrims you used then.ive got some that i started with 6years ago,and these where used every day uptill a few years a go when i started with wfp.
and i know that some people have used the same scrim for years

i hate the micro fibre purely because of how small they are. You cant grip them properly and you end up scraping your knuckles etc
-
I have scrim and some large blue microfibre glass cloths, fine weave,.13 dernier,320gsm,80x 62cm, from paragon microfibre.i`m down to only 2 left of the microfibre so need to order more and just had a look at paragon`s site and they have some new types out,the current ones i have are as good as scrim and feel as long lasting and the descriptions on the site suggest they have something better now(possibly).Anyway i was recommended Paragon Microfibre Ltd by this forum and am happy to vouch for them as well, easy to order on the site as well and certainly worth a look.

Microfiber for wet wipining, scrim for drying
-
No contest scrims went out with the arc, they wear quickly, leave lint and generally are far inferior to microfibre, I even use unger giant microfibres to clean windows, they do a perfect job, anyone who doesn't like them aren't using them properly. :o

because your using the wrong ones

wcw microfibre

hi ya :) scrim all the time for me, all the micro cloths i have used just glide over and do not obsorb any moisture ok for sills in my book........pete
-
Has to be scrim, microfiber for sills and a damp one for frames. As already said, micro doesn't absorb the water quick enough to use for anything else. I use unger microfiber.
-
Of course its preference . but when your doing high quality residential like me... its microfibre all the way fro wiping down surfaces/ Frames.. this is a no brainer as far as ime concerned... and i prefer micros for dry cleaning .
Because 1) i leave little detailing any way
2) a micro fibre is much smaller is surface area and weight to carry.
3) A micro fibre will clean a frame and sill better ..( because a wrung out micro will carry less water than a wrung out scrim ) + plus its easier work to wring out a micro
4) You get a better finish cleaning optically + you can see when a micro is spent + plus the energy used is much less because a micro is only 25 % the weight of a scrim or less. which means al in all a more efficient clean.
