Title: Prowler at 150 feet or more
Post by: from edge2edge on September 24, 2011, 09:30:39 am
Morning people i am seriously considering due to weight issues and the proximity of my base work getting a prowler and was wondering if 150 feet from the unit is the maximum length it can be used at so if you have one can you let me know please..............Regards Alan(officially an even older grey haired fart(54) today)

Alan

I don't think 150ft will be any problem with a prowler. Over that you would see more of a drop off.

Happy birthday by the way.  ;D

Alan,
Happy birthday.
I think 150 feet is about it for a Prowler. The more line you add the less suction and heat you get. Isnt that why the Prpwlers is on wheel tho.

Thanks for the replies guys I dont think i would need more than 150 as i very rarely get my third hose out now(oh mrs) with my 22hp steamway but just need to know the pros and cons when changing equipment as in the past have made some not so clever purchases that havent really suited me.....Regards Alan

Alan,
If you've got 22hp now, you would be going backwards power wise with a Prowler, you sure you want to do that?

Simon the answer is no i dont and my steamway although old and with over 5900 hrs on it really does is biz but i live in Swindon and get most of my work through Dougs site he set up for me in Oxford(about 30 miles away) so carry all my kit which puts me over the allowance for weight unfortunately. The prowler is lighter and i have only heard good/excellent things about it on here and elsewhere.I usually use my thermadry on commercials so although i would love to keep my steamway or get a phoenix if funds allowed(they dont) the 13hp prowler should cover all my requirements very well indeed while keeping me legal(the fine aint pretty re Dave Ingram).........Regards Alan

Yes a picture speaks a thousand words, at 200 foot it still much better than any twin vac machine, but as simon says don't expect it to do a heck of a lot more its only 13hp, Pressure and heat are not a problem and comparable and in excess of a lot of other TM's the 13 hp has a 2000psi pump the prochem machine 1000psi. the temp it leave the machine at is the same so it all down to hose length and how cold is the surface its on

Well to be fair the prowler wouldn't have a problem against your TM wannabe would it!!!!!!

Perhaps you should try it against a proper TM like the phoenix!!!!!!!!  ;D ;D
