When you take on a 0800 number you think you are doing your customers a favour with a free call. Many time it will cost your customer much more to call you.

I totally disagree.
If I decide to look for something for sale or a service on Google - I always try the free phone numbers first. Mainly because for me, I believe they WANT new business and HOPEFULLY offer a good product or Service. As companies who don't ry to go the extra mile from the outset - usually dissapoint.
Just like me ;D

I do some business with Window cleaning centre its a 0800 number with my skye this call would cost me 3 quid as I call in the day I will not get a free service I have seen this on my own account.Fact.and my service provider will worn me before the call goes through. So you pay for a call and I pay 3 quid.its a con mate.As a business you would not know what I pay only what you pay. That is were they fool us both.

We use a company called uk2numbers.co.uk. It cost a tenner for the number and I have just had a look at the calls we have had in the past 8 months through the service which  comes to 108, at a cost to me of just over a fiver.     Dont go for the monthly pay option just pay by the second, and when somone calls ring em back  ;D

Hi Terry - been there done that myself - been in business for over twenty six years. That is why I did my homework!
I know how to deal with the odd sales person who calls me and a few pence wasted here and there doesn't bother me in the slightest.
The number of calls which do come through from commercial clients speaks for itself, as I set this company up in 2010 and we only clean commercial businesses and I have two vans on the road almost 7 days a week.

I am not saying every customer comes through the 0800 number but a decent percentage do.

You may be the worlds fastest window cleaner - cleaning 3 panes of already clean glass, but I am not so sure that you have the knowledge to comment about 0800 numbers. It would be interesting to find out how well you are doing in this business - hopefully you are a multi van operation with umpteen employees - you should be as you have been around for a very long time.

we use talk talk buisness was opal

works fine able to divert to mobiles as required.

As for cost its pennies more concerned about our mobile charges!!

This is always going to cause a debate wether its worth it or not... one draw back at present is that more peolpe are using mobiles hence wont benefit from 0800 number.

But as a company why not offer customer all options ??? 0800 , local number and mobile no  - thats what we do  ;D ;D
