Title: First Machine..........?
Post by: Clare.w on September 18, 2011, 11:49:39 am
Had a good day yesterday at The Carpet Cleaners Carnival.
We had a good chat to a few people and think we have decided to buy an Alltec machine.
We have decided not to buy a van yet, but to just use Our V. Zaffeira and see how it goes, and as this was our first up close look at any machines- they look much bigger in real life! lol, We're thinking that the smaller Altec Active would suit us for now?  -Opinions please.........
Its usually 100psi but they have one that they've messed with and is now 200 -300psi
waiting for a quote from them.
We are a bit disapointed that CleansSmart didn't show as we really wanted to compare the Airflex machines with the Alltec ones.

Anyway ...had a good day -kids did to, didn't see anyone from here though....or did we?  8)

Well, I managed the most epic fail ever  :-[  :-[

I blame it all on Billy "small blower" Russell actually!!!  Getting me so drunk on Friday night I slept in till lunchtime!!!

I had borrowed a spinner tool off Jamie the night before to try out on my mum's tiled floor, so by the time I'd dragged myself round and done that, the show was almost over by the time I got there!!

Big FAIL :(  :-[ :( :-\

But on the plus side, I did manage to meet up with quite a few folks and have a bit of a chat.  Went out for dinner and a few drinks with John Kelly, Carl, Kev & Roxy Loomes on Saturday night which was really nice.

A sticky thread where we could upload pics of ourselves would be usefull for identifying each other, I believe there is one way back in the archives.

Machine wise ...   along with the Active , it might be worth considering the Aqua 40 plus , a slightly older design , but a great combination of low weight .. enough capacity and small size .
It may fit/lift easier into a zafira .  Also I would consider ditching the Zafira asap .. as its unlightly to gain the customer confidence of you as a professional ... something like a VW caddy instead perhaps ?

Thanks John, didn't think anyone was going to give anymore advise on the original post now their gone off on one about the carnival!!

Gone over the whole thing re the Zaffera before....we have 4 kids so need a 6 seat car, We allready manage a domestic cleaning biz with 130 regular weekly or fortnightly customers and these will probably make up a good portion of our carpet cleaning customers for a while.
Agreed that its not ideal, but we think it would be ok whilst testing it out. carpet cleaning is new to us and allthough we have 100% confidence that it will be a great second biz for us we think it's a good idea not to spend money that we don't need to spend untill giving it a go first.
(the Zaffiera isn't that bad anyway! and will get some magnetic's for it)

The plan is to carry on for about 6 months ish, then if all goes well, buy a van and bigger machine, then the Altec Active will be a back up machine.

I picked up a nice 6 seater Nissan Primastar (53) for a total of £1900 and my Combo. I have plenty room for the gear (including oven cleaning equipment) and the 3 kids and the wife if she fancies coming along for the ride... :D

As long as you do a good job, I'm pretty sure people will see you for what you are, a family business.... I would stick with what you got until you're in a position to buy a van...

Saw a Nissan Primastar the other day, its bigger than our Zaffera, is it 6 seats or 5?
nice though.
Zaffera was 6k when we got it last year, don't know what we could sell it for now.
