I am pleased that I have made it to 100 the bad news however is I have 300 to go as most of the fxxxxxs are 8 weekly.. That's life
;D
-
As longbas those 8 weekly are priced at around 50% more than if they were 4 weekly, you will be laughing eventually.
-
darren why are you offering 8 weekly,
-
well done mate ... keep going !!
-
Ori
I needed the work at the time and the custys here don't want 4wks mate.
Thank you v much H2o ;D. I will do
-
just offer 6 weeks from now on, this is the problem with wc offering 8 weeks, custys think that they can demand it from every wc going,
-
A customer is entitled to request whatever frequency they want. Just charge it accordingly and everyone's happy. I've got a handful on my books that are 4 monthly but are priced very well.
Just keep on doing your own thing Darren and you'll soon have a round full of well priced work
-
As you are past the 100 mark you can backpeddle a little ,id now stop offering 8weekly, say 4 or 6 and stand firm, most will then grab at 6
A guy in my area set up this Spring who i hear was offering WEEKLY 1,2,3,4,5,6, etc whatever they wanted AND specific day of arrival AND texting the night before. in my opinion he was making a rod for his own back ,too chummy by far ,
i heard last week he has closed up, could be he was too flexible and got milked for his trouble
i really believe you should set your stall out and then stand by it
-
Some guys have a full round with 100 customers!its true that u can charge more for 8weekly.I'm currently taking more of these on at better prices but I have lots of monthly work as well which is good bread and butter work.
6weekly seems a good compromise.most of my work is monthly/every other month.some 6weekly.one every 26 weeks!(church)well priced.
Keep canvassing and leafleting pal!

Dazmond

why do people do 6 weekly ect, all my customers are every two weeks, all well priced, all the monthly work i have bought converted them to two weeks for same price,so if you charge £10 a house every two weeks change to 6 weeks then say £30.how do you work it,ive picked a lot of work up last week phone call wfp doing every 4weeks wouldn't do fortnight so customer got me 8 houses.suppose if customers want alternative weeks up to them.

I think you must confuse the customers into every 2 weeks by your lack of paragraphs and punctuation.

What the customer wants the customer gets. You wouldn't stand a chance with 2 weekly round here, they don't even want monthly. Most of mine are 6 or 8 weeks. If you think £10 for a house is well priced its because you are locked into a loop high frequency and low prices go hand in hand.
Try quoting a few at £15 every six weeks and see how you get on. You need more customers but you wll increase your daily rate by 50%
-
£10 a house was just a example sorry
-
Thanks for all your responses.
Darren
hopefully see you all at the next 100. ;D
-
well done darren, ater 20 years hard slog got 800 customers
-
What the customer wants the customer gets.
Only if it fits in with how I work and they're prepared to pay.

Yes but Michael you haven't mentioned the fact your trad! I'm wfp and offer 3 weekly blocks I:e 3 6 9 12. I try my best to put them on 6 weekly but most insist on 3
-
Whatever you do, dont offer 6 and 8 weekly. Organising your round will be a nightmare. 4 and 8 works, 5 and 10 works, 6 and 12 works but not 6 and 8. Youll be all over the place.
-
ste m been wfp for a month now

I used to have nearly 500 customers and gave them mostly what they wanted.
I have about 230 now (plus some subbing) and I earn far more from them than I ever did from the 500. Lower frequency gives leeway to charge a decent price. Also, among the 500, a lot of them messed me about - so I eventually had to cherry pick. Many years later I imagine quite a few of them still grumble that they can't get a decent window cleaner to stick around.

Precisely my view too. I tend to offer 6 (meaning 6-8) and 12 (meaning 12-16). I have a few weekly and fortnightlies (commercial) but they are all near home or out of hours so not a problem. I have a 2 monthly as well but that is near to my water supply so again, no prob.

Thanks michael and well done to you I'll get there one day..
Cheers mate

Spot on. It's not the numbers but the value that is important.

I don't find it a problem, George takes care of it all, I just press the button and whoever is due that week gets done. It doesn't matter to me when they were last done. besides, there are large periods of time when I am behind so it becomes even less of a problem. I spend most of my time bashing away on catchup, so its just most overdue first.
-
ste m been wfp for a month now
so you have finally bit the bullit then mate, how you finding it? did mike fix your pump for you the other week?
-
why do people do 6 weekly ect,
I find it.....
less boring
can charge more
they look forward to seeing you instead of thinking...'is here again already'
its very hard to get 'behind' with work due to your schedule being a bit more flexible.
Downside is you just need lots more custys. Upside, losing one affects you less.
General feedback i get is that fortnightly is too often. But as you know, where we operate many offer fortnightly or nothing.
-
hi ste m,things goin fine lot quicker ect, havent had time to sort pump yet
