Title: Pump position

Does it matter what position the pump is fixed when fitting it either on a trolley or in the van etc, can it be fixed upright,upside down,flat,on an angle etc,does it affect the performance on hows its positioned,Gaz.

yes it does matter

i think it was up and down, but im not 100 % sure

Does anyone use a clamp or a holder for their pump,i am fitting it to my new trolley and don`t know how else to fix it to it, please help,Gaz

The pump in an omnitrolly is fitted on it's side - no problems noted.

i followed the williamsons instructions when fitting mine and they say to put it upside down so if it leaks, the water won't run onto the electrics - i think it could also lie flat

If they leak then the pipes/connectors havent been fitted properly, i'm sure all diaphram pumps can be placed in an position, except inside out and back to front.

We use an Ionics pump which is really a Sure Flow that costs a bit more and I was assured that anyway up was ok.

It's fitted upside down and works fine.

hi Paul - you are right - if they leak they aren't fitted correctly - but leaks are what we often have, and if you take the back off your washing machine, that's why the pumps have the hoses on the bottom ;)

I used to have my pump fitted on my trolley which was fixed to the outside of the vehicle and as such would get wet when it rained,get wet when hose connections leaked on it and I had no problems (3 years) the only thing that I took care about was the connections and the ON/OFF switch connections which I kept coverd in grease..

My pump, by-pass loop and flow rate lever are all mounted in a plastic box which hooks on and off of my trolley. (As supplied by aquatech (Peter Fogwill). The pump is generally between 25 degrees and upright when working.
