Hi
Today i tried out split X premium on a wool mix carpet, the carpet was lightly soiled with the usual traffic and drinks spillages.
I diluted it at about 16:1 and pre sprayed, then agitated well with the brush.
I then found when it came to extraction not much was happening, usually the carpet at this stage would start to look loads better if i were using something like pre spray gold.
I ended up having to pre spray (quite heavy) brush and then extract again to see any improvement.
I am a noob to the MS method... please could some of you experts help me out here with the correct method... dilution, prespray amount, etc

I've had disappointing results with Fusion 8 on both carpet and upholstery.

I usually use a Sebo duo, but just today i wanted to use my trusty Prochem carpet brush, beleive me i agitated the carpet well! broke into a sweat and had to remove my jumper!
Im not sure agitation is the issue here... is it the dilution or am i not laying it down heavy enough?

Russ, I find that the difference between even a duo and a carpet brush is massive, let alone a more heavy duty agitation device like a big CRB or rotary.
I don't know what the recommended dilution is for that product but I suspect Derek is on the right lines using it at twice the strength you stated it. I think manufacturers often state the weakest dilutions for two reasons; firstly to stop people unnecessarily over-using the product, and secondly it makes the product look very economical on paper if you state the weakest dilution.
So don't give up on the product or write it off as useless... next job, dilute it at 1:8 and put the duo over it to see if you get any better results :)

Just stick to detergents mate. If it anit broke why fix it? ;)

Use a decent ms prespray......Agitate to spread it around and rinse well.

Russ i use it quite a lot and dilute 16-1 to 20-1 and agitate with the sebo and get good results I spray a bit thicker on heavy soiled areas with plenty agitation on those areas.

I find also that despite what the products claim I always leave a decent dwell after agitation, at least 10 mins.

MS is safer to use and that alone makes it a good selling point to the conscientious customer . It's odd how some people seem to find it the Mutts and other operators can get it to work for them.... ???
It works for me and the Fusion8 is fantastic stuff, maybe it's got something to do with water temperature or the make up of the tap water in different regions... ???

I nearly allways use microsplitters and i think there great also its a much safer option for people just starting up .

I always found that fusion 8 smelled like cat Pee.
Just managed to get fusion clean working this week. Double the recommended concentration, but now it works for me like all the other people say it does.
I still find M power or the HD microsplitter the best for me and this is padding too.......

It does take time to get used to russ.
I was a little the same when i first started using it.
Always use my sebo duo when i can too.

I heard that you would have to change your regular technique compared to products like pre spray gold and power burst.
Would you say that most MS are similar?
Lost of people claim that cold water is all that's needed to rinse with ?

I use M Power or now and then PB on carpets.
But I find Solutions HD works better on upholstery.
Even add a little Soluboost to it now and again.

I find if I mix it with hot water, and rinse with 40/50 C I get much better results. Not sure weather they are all the same, could be I suppose, but I use to love One Step from CFR (Amtech) but it got replaced and I did not find the replacement as good. Use Split X and Pureclean (powder) and find both excellent but for all I know they could be the same

Tried most microspillters on the market and I dont find them that effective, thats just me... If I have to invest £1k+ on a heavy duty CRB machine for it to work properly then i think this is going backwards IMO.
Plus I dont really have time to experament anymore with load of products, I stick to what I know what works 100% of the time.
I have tried ms pipping hot, cold, long dwell time, short dwell time, put it down heavy, just a mist etc << and evertytime the results for me where not what I am used too. Sometimes it was good, sometimes poor but never fantastic!
Some cleaners perception of a "great" results is different I guess.

If you are getting your split x from cleansmart, get 5 litres of their orange x and put 150 ml in 8 litre sprayer along with 400 ml split x. Im sure you;ll be impressed.
I use this nearly all the time and dont need to use PB or any high Ph prespray.
Orange x brilliant for grease.

Took the words right out of my mouth DONT REALLY HAVE TIME TO EXPERAMENT ANYMORE WITH LOAD OF PRODUCTS, I STICK TO WHAT I KNOW WHAT WORKS 100% OF THE TIME. However if someone were to send me some samples for free (for the hydoforce sprayer) I will evaluate but it must be agitation free product ;D

Yep i have the orange x too.. so i gotta use 2 products to see any noticeable improvement??
In the past i used pre spray gold on wool / wool mix.. that worked.. and multi pro on synthetic... that worked and power burst.. i love that stuff...
lets face it when we are on a job the last thing you really want to do is experiment... time is money...

I use the HD version on most jobs and its never let me down pre spray aggitate with flexi and use rince x if wool

Fusion 8 i find works pretty well on upholstery but was not that impressed on carpets so far. Pureclean is my favourite Micro-splitter and first choice for most cleaning projects.
