Now, I feel sure I am behind on this one, being an old fart.
But do any of you use social media to reach people, or to let people know where you will be working for example?
Pondering doing so, I've never even used facebook before.

We use Facebook but not twitter. People don't read your Facebook page and are not interested in what you say. We advertise by posting on club sites and others, get about 500 to 1000 quids worth of work off our sites a month.
I have a personal personal page but hardly use it.
Here's our windy page.

Cozy, fo you use the pay per click advert that you can develop yourself? I have on currently running in my local area (via Facebook) and I'm yet to even get a click :o(

We currently just ran a Facebook advert, which we got for free, and it was really good!
£25 got us viewed about 9000odd times and about 8-9 clicks/likes!

No mate. We post an add on club pages, we post "We have been in business since April 1989 providing a window cleaning service to the following areas: Herford, Bünde, Detmold, Sennelager, Paderborn and Gütersloh. If you would like to be added to the service on a 6 weekly basis, please let us know by phone 05221 3489 25 or by e-mail info@rpg-service-herford.com.
Or join our group for future refernce.

No cost, but we always ask page admins first if its OK to post.
TOM Clicks and likes are worthless if people don't book a clean or you get no work from it. All this stuff about Google picking your web site up quicker etc, what good is a web site or a Facebook page if it produces no profit and new custies? Well done for the clicks though, just turn 'em into jobs. ;)
I'd find some club pages or interest pages to post on if I were you guys. It's worth the work in the end.
