Title: Publishing Software
Post by: jacko on September 11, 2011, 01:23:35 pm
Hi all

Can you recommend good software for producing my fliers / ads etc? I currently use Serif Page plus x2  - but am sure there are better ones out there?

Thanks!

Adobe photoshop CS5, or Adobe illistrator CS5 but both are a learning curve. Could also try Corel Draw graphics suite x4, Corel Photo Impact x3, Corel Real Draw Pro 4.

Serif is probably as good as most on the market and if you find it is not doing what you want it is probably the fact that you are not familiar enough with the way that the software is used. Serif have superb technicial help but they only offer it for their current products, I believe that serif is on version 4 or 5 of page plus so this will not be an option open to you so I would reccommend upgrading to the latest version in order to get the telephone help service. Corel draw is one of the best products on the market and the one that I use but I have got about 15 years experience of the product so can do what I want quickly. You will find that any program will take time to master so there is a lot of learning to do whatever the product.

As you progress with your computer skills you may wish to start enhancing photos, make your own websites etc.
Serif do make all of those programs that will interact with each other for the fraction of the cost of the professional programs that cost £100's.
The adobe illiustrator package can handle anything but the full package costs a fortune.
Buy an up to date version of serif with the manuals and the telephone support and in a short time you will soon pick it up if you put the effort in. The window programs are very limited with their interaction with each other which is why the printing industry etc do not use them.

It's Lorem ipsum. it isn't a real language. It's used by developers for layout and spacing when building the site.
