Title: GPH Meter
Post by: Andy Hogarth on September 10, 2011, 06:01:44 pm
I've finally got around to playing with the gph meter on my truckmount after the guys at alltec sorted it out.

Can anyone give me a brief tutorial of how to use it  ;D

I have it fixed up to a 12ltr bottle but it seems to drink it straight down or take nothing!!

Cheers all

12 litres isn't much. The settings vary according to chemical and soil levels, but is generally between 2-4gph

Ash mate, should it constantly be sat at 2-4 or only when I key the wand?

I'm pushed for space on my van so 12ltr bottle is all I can squeeze in at the side door so maybe that's the problem!

Should be constant, but have u purged the system to get rid of the air?

The system is air free, do I need to do anything else just to the gph meter?

My machine is a sidekick 6100

Del boy, just been using water to play about with, I'll mostly use an acid rinse or f90 liquid as weapons of choice

Mine tends to go from 0-Max (always when I'm not looking) when I haven't purged all the air.
When you say it's air free, is that a feature of the machine, or do you mean you have purged??

Please don't hang on my words though, I'm far from an expert!

derek, i think that the sentence should be 'what are you putting in it, andy' as far as i know 'ya' isn't a word in the English language. just another lazy erosion of the English language that some seem to think is ok. no disrespect intended, i think your posts and replies are always very very good but why, why the lazy speak?

I guess it's for the same reason your post lacks basic grammar, it's a relaxed forum environment and not a dissertation, and noone really cares?

Pretty sure you will find " ya " like many other regional words has been in common use in parts of the UK over the past millenium.

If it constantly rising when not keying the wand it's usually the chemical one way check valve that is stuck in the open position that causes this.

haha good job it's sunday, Only my mum calls me andrew any other day  ;D ;D ;D

Glynn mine sits at the bottom then goes to wherever I have it set when I key, is this normal
Sometimes though I can see the water going down without keying!

It should only rise ( to where you set it ) WHEN you key the wand.
If  the stock is reducing when you are NOT using it, there is something wrong i.e.a chemical pump check valve stuck.

Aah, ok it seems I have a problem then. I don't think it reduces when I'm not keying the wand, but the indicator sits in the same place whether regardless of what's happening with the wand.
I'll test it this afternoon to see if the solution is going down.

Turns out I was wrong. Just ran it with the gph right up, and it was drinking it without the wand even being attached. What's the diagnosis?

I've found the check valve, but how the hell are you supposed to get it out? Its like performing open heart surgery on a sparrow in a dark airing cupboard??!

You think that's bad, wait until you have to do something right in the middle of the machine that is physically impossible to reach/see/get a spanner on!!!

Andy, damn you and your problems! If you had kept your mouth shut I'd still be living in blissful ignorance!

Although, this should make a huge difference to my acid rinse supplies bill..
